My painting study of Frank's Tree of Death

As usual, I will be providing some background and commentaries on the painting before showing you my video process from start to finish on completing this master study painting of Frank`s Tree of Death:

Frazetta_Friday_Ep2_red.png
Galiant's master study painting of the original Frank's Frazetta "Tree of Death".

Frank painted this awesome original piece back in 1970, featuring a sinewy barbarian trying to reach an evil wizard whose blood magic forced a horrific tree to protect him at all costs! Some references also say that the barbarian was trying to rescue the wizard from the blood-thirsty tree! So that is also a cool version!

Three years after completed, this painting became the cover of Flashing Swords! #2 by the Publisher Nelson Doubleday. The book was a collective of four fantasy stories molded as heroic fantasy novelettes by members of the Swordsmen and Sorcerers' Guild of America (SAGA). According to Heritage auctions this painting was also printed as a poster in 1980 and later included as part of one of Frank's artbooks. Most of the stories about Frank can be found thanks to the continuous honoring of his name and craft by his daughter Holly and granddaughter Sara, who founded a SUPER AWESOME company called Frazetta Girls! They also have a Facebook group where they share pics and other interesting historical pieces of this great master, where most of these interesting facts can be found as part of their actual family history! Super cool, eh? 😜 So rad!

There are so many details in this piece!! It took me a total of 4 hours to finish this master study,
You can see the video process right below! Which I compressed down to less than 2 minutes with commentaries. 😛

I hope you're enjoying this series as much as I am. And I do expect you to be inspired by Frazetta's artwork, and allow yourself to be transported to his fantasy realm! For some of you who might be wondering, you did get it right! HE DESIGNED CONAN THE BARBARIAN waaay back in 1965! I hope we get to talk more about that as the series progresses! 😜🔥⚔️

Also, for those of you who wanna see a sneak peek of the process before watching the video, there you go!

Hope to see you soon! Stay safe, stay creative, go make art! 💪😍

Yours,
Galiant
