RE: Trying to get familiar with digital drawing

in Sketchbooklast year

Like everything else, drawing gets better with practice.

Yep! Even going back to digital today I noticed massive improvements since the last time. I feel much more comfortable with shapes and form. But I still feel a lot more confident on paper. There is a whole lot to get used to digitally, especially since this tablet doesn't have a screen. It isn't too bad looking straight at the monitor and drawing, but definitely a lot different after being on paper for so long.

Things are still a bit messy given it feels so weird not feeling the texture of pencil on paper, in a way the tablet feels too smooth. I think that's what leads me to getting messy and using too many lines. But I guess that's just something to get used to. Perhaps I'll use Hive to encourage myself to do these little warmups every day.

Also, going outside and getting some air will improve your drawing.

Yeah my push into drawing from imagination is mostly due to this. It's a bit harder for me to get out and draw from life at the moment, as much as I'd like to. It's very rainy and windy lately, and cafes are not cheap, haha. Either way, I'm really happy to see the progress I've made. Feels great to have something new to learn, and really enjoy.

Haha, so let's wait a bit for sunny days and see what can you do more. I think you can draw a view really good. Why don't you draw your view from your window? It can be interesting for readers.
