Estudio de un insecto
Today’s drawing focused on creating a complete watercolor-style illustration using digital techniques once again. The drawing was made in the Ibis Paint application and is part of a larger study on insect forms, a study I began traditionally and which resulted in three complete digital drawings. The process started with the necessary observation time through real references; later, I made several rough sketches on paper, and when I felt ready, I began the digital drawing. Insects have bilateral symmetry, so I relied on the reflection tool to draw one side and duplicate it. In the end, I obtained my complete sketch. I really liked the result.
El dibujo de hoy se centró en la realización de un dibujo completo con estilo de acuarela utilizando nuevamente técnicas digitales. El dibujo se realizó en la aplicación Ibis Paint, y forma parte de un estudio más grande sobre las formas de los insectos, un estudio que comencé en tradicional y como resultado obtuve tres dibujos digitales completos. El proceso comenzó con un tiempo necesario de observación a través de referencias reales; más tarde realicé varios bocetos sucios en papel y cuando me sentí listo comencé con el dibujo digital. Los insectos tienen simetría bilateral, así que me apoyé en la herramienta de reflejo para dibujar un solo lado y duplicarlo. Al final obtuve mi boceto completo. Me gustó mucho el resultado.
After that, I began making the lines for the final drawing. I used a very thin fiber pen between 1.5px and 2px, with variation depending on the pressure.
Seguido de eso comencé a hacer las líneas para el dibujo final, utilicé un pincel de fibra bien delgado entre 1.5px a 2px con variación según la presión.

Unlike the sketch where I used symmetry, I decided to make the lines completely by hand to avoid the perfection of symmetry. In nature there is symmetry, but each part, even if symmetrical, is unique. I erased my sketch lines and started working on the background of the illustration, which I will create simply with blotches and overlays of different colors.
A diferencia del boceto donde usé simetría, decidí hacer las líneas completamente manual para evitar la perfección de la simetría, y es que en la naturaleza hay simetría pero cada parte aunque sea simétrica es única. Borré mis líneas de boceto y me puse a trabajar en el fondo de la ilustración, que lo haré simplemente con manchas y rellenos de distintos colores superpuestos.
I chose three colors for my drawing: a brown, a pale yellow, and a very light green. I colored section by section, leaving small slips and imperfections, which is the beauty of watercolors. I especially liked how the transparencies of the wings turned out. By applying several layers and increasing or decreasing the pressure and the brush load, I achieved different transparencies and some highlights.
Escogí tres colores para mi dibujo: un café, un amarillo pálido y un verde muy ligero. Fui coloreando por secciones pero dejando pequeños descuidos y pequeñas imperfecciones, que es lo bello de las acuarelas. Me gustó mucho cómo quedaron las transparencias de las alas sobre todo. Dando varias capas y aumentando o disminuyendo la presión y la carga del pincel logré distintas transparencias y algunos brillos.

I really liked the final result; I think what stands out the most are its transparent wings and the light yellow tones of the insect. I hope you enjoy this drawing. Soon I will continue sharing more in this style and perhaps more insects. Thank you for joining me for another day of drawing.
El resultado final me gustó mucho, creo que lo que más destacan son sus alas transparentes y los ligeros tonos amarillos del insecto. Espero que les guste este dibujo, pronto seguiré compartiendo más en este estilo y quizás más insectos. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
