The last time I used my watercolors was about two weeks ago and I feel like an eternity has passed since then.... The positive side is that during this time I've alternated between one drawing technique or another (graffiti-watercolor-digital drawing), so in spite of everything I keep working and expressing my ideas.
This time my inspiration led me to draw a girl with a sweet and angelic face, in fact, I chose to draw this specific girl because the original picture reminds me a lot of fairies or elves and you already know that I love these creatures.
Process:
I did this sketch in about an hour and a half, more or less, although I wanted to capture the details quickly and focus on the watercolor painting part, I fixed many things in the sketch to make it as close as I could to the original image (at least within the short time I did it).
To paint, my favorite part. First I painted with pink color the cheeks and some areas where the shadows are projected as the forehead, chin and neck, I waited for it to dry a little and then I added another layer of this color in those same areas and also on the nose and lips, little by little I was creating the shades of the skin until finally I applied a layer all over the face and neck with the same tone. While waiting for the face paint to dry, I took advantage of the time and layered the hair as well.
I always enjoy the part where it is left to add the smaller details like the eyelashes, the freckles on the cheeks or defining some loose strands of hair in the hairstyle. There is a small palette of metallic watercolors that I have hardly used and in this drawing I indulged myself by using it for the chain and tendrils that decorate this girl.
I don't feel I've been as spontaneous or risky with watercolors as I would have liked, but I'm still learning how to use them, that is, until I find a style or a way that I'm happy with, so I'm patient.
Here is the final result. I must admit that I like it a lot, I hope you do too.

La última vez que usé mis acuarelas fue hace dos semanas más o menos y siento que pasó una eternidad desde entonces... El lado positivo es que durante este tiempo he alternado entre una técnica u otra de dibujo (grafito-acuarela-dibujo digital), así que a pesar de todo me mantengo trabajando y plasmando mis ideas.
En esta ocasión mi inspiración me llevó a dibujar una chica de rostro dulce y angelical, de hecho, escogí dibujar esta chica en específico porque la foto original me recuerda mucho a las hadas o elfinas y ustedes ya saben que me encantan estas criaturas.
Proceso:
Hice este boceto en al rededor de una hora y media, más o menos, aunque quería capturar los detalles rápido y enfocarme en la parte de la pintura con las acuarelas, arreglé muchas cosas del boceto para que se pareciera tanto como pudiese con la imagen original (al menos dentro del corto tiempo en que lo hice).
A pintar, mi parte favorita. Primero pinté con color rosa las mejillas y algunas zonas donde se proyectan las sombras como la frente, la barbilla y el cuello, esperé que secara un poco y luego añadí otra capa de este color en esas mismas zonas y también en la nariz y los labios, poco a poco fui creando los matices de la piel hasta finalmente aplicar una capa por toda la cara y el cuello con un mismo tono. Mientras esperaba que se secara la pintura del rostro, aprovechaba el tiempo y pintaba también por capas el cabello.
Siempre disfruto la parte en la que queda agregar los detalles más pequeños como las pestañas, las pecas en las mejillas o definir algunas hebras de cabello sueltas en el peinado. Hay una pequeña paleta de acuarelas metálicas que casi no he usado y en este dibujo me di el gusto de usarla para la cadena y los zarcillos que decoran a esta chica.
No siento que haya sido tan espontánea o arriesgada con las acuarelas como me hubiera gustado, pero aún estoy aprendiendo a usarlas, o sea, hasta hallar un estilo o un modo en el que me sienta satisfecha, así que soy paciente.
He aquí el resultado final. Debo admitir que me gusta mucho, espero que a ustedes también.
