This is a compositional drawing it few years back. I know that is quite a long time from now but the artwork is still with me neatly framed and hanging on the walls of my room.

This is just one of my routine drawings done specifically for improvement. The functions of this kind of drawings is to increase your hand flexibility and your hand-eye coordination. The more you practice the more you IMPROVE.... there is no two ways about it.

As usual I started out by making a quick sketch on my drawing paper, this was this was quite easy as I had earlier made a composition of a guitar leaning against a wooden stool.

After the quick sketch, I started adding the shades. The areas that had lighter shades received lighter strikes and areas with darker shades received darker strikes, this was to give Life to the drawing.

If a drawing has no shades it will appear lifeless and unattractive.. After the whole shading thingy, I moved over to getting matching background that would make the subject conspicuous.

Really cool drawing showing musical instruments. I like how you made the background with vertical strokes.
