(ESP-ENG) Un mar de colores pasteles/A sea of pastel colors

in Sketchbook2 years ago

Throughout the years that I have been investing in my profession, I have been very selective with the things that I like and those that I don't, among those were landscapes, I like landscape paintings but I didn't like doing them so much, you couldn't tell you why exactly but the truth is, I avoided doing them but these months I have set myself the task of stopping avoiding things that I did not like to do in drawing or painting, so here we have it, I have made a watercolor of a stormy sea and when I did it I understood why people make so many landscapes and why there are people who have those landscapes in their homes.

For this painting, I did not make a very defined sketch, I located where I wanted some things to be, to guide me when painting it; I started making the clouds of the sky, I didn't want it to be the classic sky of white and blue clouds, but rather with more pastel colors than what the sea had a lot of blue, it was complicated for me to make the clouds have that sponginess, which they looked like clouds, following what logic and my instinct said, I would have to leave areas of clarity for them to have that light that makes them fluffy, I painted the clouds a very soft orange and a violet that I tried to blur as best I could, I didn't want it to be so invasive with the painting. When making the sea water, that was another story, because I took on the task of mixing many blues, interspersing them, giving them depth where it seemed most appropriate and where it would be better to place light.

With the foam of the waves, it was a bit more difficult, it seemed very boring to me that the foam was just white, without grace, so I chose to paint it white but adding a little orange and violet; painting the sea, giving it color, it came to my mind that when a wave forms it always leaves a trail of water drops, I wanted to do that with the foam too, only it was very laborious to do it with the white paint I was using, I opted By doing it with concealer, I pressed when necessary and dragged the white liquid where and how I wanted the details of the foam to be seen.

With this drawing I collapsed many beliefs, of thinking that I would never like to make landscapes and now I see that it is not like that, that if I like it, I just had to give it a chance, mixing the colors to make a landscape reassures me, managing to make it look with a good finish, I think my next step would be to draw with backgrounds like this, make more backgrounds and see how it turns out, wish me luck, I'll show you soon.
