The woman in the frame (mixed media on paper)

in Sketchbook3 months ago

Hello hivers, an happy Saturday to you all! Today the Sun is shining on the sky and I'm happy for the good weather, because later in the afternoon I have to go to the opening of a solo exhibition by one of my friends! ❤️

Yesterday, while I was cleaning a corner of my lab room, I found an old small frame I stored there years ago and I thought it could be perfect for one of my usual woman portraits in my own illustration style.

This morning, as usual, I woke up soon to work on something that could be nice in that frame and, in the following pics, you can see the final result of the piece:

At first, I gave a touch of gold color to the wooden frame and, when it was ready, I painted one of my usual women with dark red hair and a tiny house (in gold color) on her head.

I used some touches of gold colors also on the dress, to reminds to the color of the frame, but to be honest I think I used too much gold colors, so far from my usual palette. 😊
It's a mixed media (acrylic colors, oil colors and white ink) painting on around 300 gsm paper on a frame and, as usual, I took some pics while I was painted this artwork so you can see the process too:

Greetings Dear Silvia,

Lovely work...she looks splendid. The frame sets off the painting beautifully.

Kind Regards,

NB Thank you for the reblog....very kind of you. ^__^

Did you notice the embroidery....(My grandmother's needle work on a linen table covering).

I love the embroidery works. When I was a little girl my grandmother and my mum teached me to embroider, but I'm not so good ad they were. I have some of my mother's needle works at home and they are fantastic, especially a cotton cover she embroidered with beautiful flowers. ❤️

I love it! What an interesting concept!

Thanks so much, @erikah ! ❤️

The woman is very beautiful, she must be a very homely person.

Beautiful portrait
