RE: OCD Curation Report | May 2022

Awesome! Thanks a lot for doing these, will be a great way to check our improvement over time to cover as many great authors, overall users, and communities!

It is also amazing to see that even though the price dropped by a lot, the amount of unique authors posting has not dropped much, on top of that many new ones are joining and receiving frequent votes from our curation efforts and those of the communities. Will be interesting to see how this trend will grow!

This was the most amazing feature I learned from this post. Despite of the drop in price, community members have not run away.

I would be interested in seeing a distinction between new members (let's say joining Hive less than 3 months ago) and older ones, and how this metric evolves over time (and how it is correlated with Hive price). This should provide some insights on user retention.

Cheers!

Yeah would be interesting to see.

While we do have some activities in that sector, mainly @lovesniper where curators curate good first posts they find, recommend them communities they may be interested in based on their posts then give them a follow to check their future activities (people can check @lovesniper/feed to follow it themselves), and then we also have our own onboarding program which people can follow on the @ocdb compilation posts that have a very high retention rate. It would still be interesting to see overall numbers. I am seeing quite nice retention and curation in general and referral links working somewhat properly through beneficiaries being sent to onboarders in different ways (either through peakd sign ups or through hiveonboard directly - not our onboarding program).

There are only a few questionable accounts doing some questionable curation, nothing too big or too much stake and when it gets out of hand it is nothing that downvotes can't fix or adjust.

Tnx!
Yea thats true ... activity has not slowed down as much as the price! Great work from you guys .... almost 2k authors and 160 communities supported per month is quite an achivment!

Hopefully only going up from here on out!

Something for readers to keep in mind is that we do have quite a lot of restrictions, not just certain niches/genres that we won't curate, but also to not reward the same authors too much and often or if they already are well rewarded from other curators. On top of that when the price of Hive is too high we try to tone it down a bit so the rewards are a bit more realistic and similar when price is lower we try to vote them a bit higher.

Some of the great things that come off of manual curation and having many unique eyes and tools handy to help is that you can be quite flexible and fair towards distribution.
