If it's tricolor, it's female Cat 😻.
A greeting to all, today I want to share a curious fact about cats that has to do with science and that is evident in the color of their coat, which at some point was also unknown to me.
In a visit to the veterinarian commenting some things he let me know that the great majority of cats with three colors are females in fact reading I knew that statistically a very, very low percentage usually are males.

Now because this is simple genetics, I believe that all or most know about Mendel's laws, chromosomes, dominant and recessive genes, that is where the reason lies for why only females are tricolour.
The colour of cats is related to their sex, as we know females have two X chromosomes and males a combination of X and Y chromosomes, that is if it is female their chromosomes will be XX and if it is male XY,, the colours orange and black are present in the X chromosomes (one for each chromosome), as for white it seems not to be directly linked to sex. That is why both females and males can have it, but only females having two X chromosomes can enjoy having three colors and they can be of the combination called Calico, in these kittens most of their color is white having black and orange spots, as it is the case of my dear Manchita, the black can be grayish and their spots can have stripes that make them look tabby.

On the other hand we have the so called Carey cats where the white color is very little and the black and orange colors are asymmetric.

In the coloration also the dominant and recessive genes intervene, for that reason we see cats of two colors or of one only, but I will not deepen in the topic of the genes in this publication.
As in everything, in the nature there are exceptions or anomalies, it has been given the case of male cats of three colors, the reason is that they have three chromosomes instead of two XXY and for this reason they can have three colors, but this happens in a percentage of 0.03 % or in one of each 3000 cases, besides being of three colors this male cat very, very probably will be sterile and it is known as Klinefelter's Syndrome.

On the other hand, the males, that is to say the union of the XY chromosomes only enjoy one or two colors.

Si es tricolor, es Gata 😻
Un saludo para todos, hoy les quiero compartir un dato curioso acerca de los gatos que tiene que ver con la ciencia y que se hace evidente en el color de su pelaje, que en algún momento también fue desconocido para mi.
En una visita al veterinario comentando algunas cosas me hizo saber que la gran mayorÃa de gatos con tres colores son hembras de hecho leyendo supe que estadÃsticamente un muy, pero muy bajo porcentaje suelen ser machos.
Ahora bien a que se debe esto, es simple genética, creo que todos o la gran mayorÃa conicen sobre las leyes de Mendel, cromosomas, genes dominantes y recesivos, es allà donde radica la razón de porqué sólo las hembras son tricolor.
El color de los gatos está relacionado con su sexo, como sabemos las hembras tienen dos cromosomas X y los machos una combinación de cromosoma X y Y, es decir si es hembra sus cromosomas serán XX y si es macho XY,, los colores naranja y negro están presentes en los cromosomas X (uno por cada cromosoma), en cuanto al blanco parece no estar ligado directamente al sexo. Es por ello que tanto hembras como machos pueden tenerlo, pero solo las hembras al tener dos cromosomas X podrán disfrutar de tener tres colores pudiendo ser de la combinación llamada Calicó, en estas gatitas la mayorÃa de su color es blanco teniendo manchas negras y naranja, como es el caso de mi querida Manchita, el negro puede ser grisáceo y sus manchas pueden tener rayas que las hacen lucir atigradas.
Por otro lado tenenos a las llamadas gatas Carey donde el color blanco es muy poco y los colores negro y naranja son asimétricos.
En la coloración también intervienen los genes dominantes y recesivos, por ello vemos gatas de dos colores o de uno solo, pero no profundizare en el tema de los genes en esta publicación.
Como en todo, en la naturaleza existen excepciones o anomalÃas, se ha dado el caso de gatos machos de tres colores , la razón es que tienen tres cromosomas en lugar de dos XXY y por esta razón pueden tener tres colores, pero esto ocurre en un porcentaje de 0.03 % o en uno de cada 3000 casos, además de ser de tres colores este gato macho muy, pero muy probablemente será estéril y se le conoce como SÃndrome de Klinefelter.
Por otro lado, los machos, es decir la unión de los cromosomas XY solo disfrutan de uno o dos colores.
