Fascinating Macro: Bee Fly (Anthrax)

Anthrax, I've heard that word before it as the name of the virus. I recently came across a dull black fly with wings that resemble a fighter jet. I searched on internet for information about it, and I found identification that it was Anthrax fly (Scopoli, 1763) or commonly known as bee flies.

Perhaps it's because the hairs that grow on its back are a bit like a bee, which is why it's called a bee fly. Unlike the green bottle flies or house flies, I rarely see bee flies around residential areas.

I took these photos around the hills of Cot Girek, Kandang. I saw them in large numbers, maybe that's their habitat.
