Sunday night at a coffee shop in the Lhokseumawe area, I and three friends agreed that the next day we planned to visit The Islamic Monument of Samudera Pasai.
Monday at 9:30 WIB, we had gathered at the coffee shop where we met the night before. After sipping coffee, we went to the location which is 17.5 km from the city of Lhokseumawe. About half an hour away, we arrived at the location located in Beuringen Village, Samudera District, North Aceh.
At that time the sun had not yet risen to the top of the head, the sky was bright blue with non-dominant clouds, and the atmosphere like this was a good time to take photos. The atmosphere in the building of this monument looks quiet, only visible to a few visitors. And actually we deliberately took a working day (Monday) to visit here, so we could freely take photos.
The Islamic Monument of Samudera Pasai was built to commemorate the glory of the Samudera Pasai Sultanate (1267-1521), which was known as the center of the spread of Islam in the Archipelago and Southeast Asia in the 13th century. This magnificent monument began to be built in 2012 and is currently only completed around 80%. If you look at the architectural style, this building is somewhat similar to the model of Islamic architecture in India.
This monument is located not far (300 meters) from the funeral complex of the Kings of the Pasai Sultanate, and 100 meters to the east of the monument building is the Samudera Pasai Museum which holds hundreds of historical relics of the Sultanate of Samudera Pasai, but unfortunately, the museum is closed to public because of the Corona pandemic since a few months ago.

Minggu malam di sebuah kedai kopi di kawasan Lhokseumawe, saya bersama tiga orang teman bersepakat bahwa besoknya kami berencana akan berkunjung ke Monumen Islam Samudera Pasai.
Senin pada pukul 9.30 WIB, kami sudah berkumpul di kedai kopi tempat di mana malam sebelumnya kami bertemu. Setelah menyeruput kopi, kami pun berangkat menuju lokasi yang berjarak 17,5 km dari Kota lhokseumawe. Kurang lebih setengah jam perjalanan, kami sudah tiba di lokasi yang terletak di Desa Beuringen Kecamatan Samudera, Aceh Utara.
Saat itu matahari belum naik ke puncak kepala, langit tampak biru cerah dengan awan yang tidak dominan, dan suasana seperti ini adalah waktu yang bagus untuk mengambil foto. Suasana di bangunan monumen ini tampak sepi, hanya terlihat beberapa orang pengunjung. Dan sebenarnya kami sengaja mengambil waktu hari kerja (Senin) untuk berkunjung ke sini, supaya bisa dengan leluasa mengambil foto.
Monumen Islam Samudera Pasai dibangun untuk mengenang kejayaan Kesultanan Samudera Pasai (1267-1521), yang dikenal sebagai pusat penyebaran Islam di Nusantara dan Asia Tenggara pada abad ke-13. Monumen megah ini mulai dibangun pada tahun 2012 dan saat ini baru rampung sekitar 80%. Jika dilihat gaya arsitekturnya, bangunan ini agak mirip dengan model arsitektur Islam di India.
Monumen ini terletak tidak jauh (300 meter) dari komplek pemakaman raja-raja Kesultanan Samudera Pasai, dan 100 meter di sebelah timur bangunan monumen terdapat Museum Samudera Pasai yang menyimpan ratusan benda-benda peninggalan sejarah Kesultanan Samudera Pasai, namun sayangnya, museum tersebut ditutup untuk publik karena pandemi Corona sejak beberapa bulan yang lalu.
