In the year 1898 in Modena, Italy a little boy was born to parents Alfredo Ferrari and Adalgisa.
They named him Enzo. He was the second child in the family.
Ever since a young age Enzo Ferrari hated schools and would spend his time doing things he loved with his friends. When he was 10 years old his father took him to a race in a city called Bologna where he witnessed FIAT sports cars racing around a track. It was here that he fell in love with motor racing.
He tried his best to get into the motor racing world but failed many times. He just didn't know the right people to do it.
Enzo also tried to find a job in FIAT, an Italian car manufacturer, unfortunately FIAT was not impressed with his skills and did not hire him at the time. He was devastated by this and promised to take revenge on FIAT.
During the first world war Italy got into the war. Enzo's father died due to poor health and his brother Dino died due to typhoid while he was in the army. Enzo had to take up responsibilities and had to enlist in the Italian army. At one point he almost died contracting a very deadly disease at the time. There was a slim chance of survival. He was then taken to a medical camp, but miraculously he outlived the disease and slowly recovered back his health in a few months.
He retires from the military and then finds some friends at a local racing community where he meets a gentleman who works for Alfa Romeo.
Enzo lands a job at Alfa Romeo. He also gets the chance to race for the team which he loved, but he realised that he was not really good as he thought he would be. He slowly starts managing the sports team for Alfa Romeo , bringing in many top engineers and racing drivers from FIAT and other companies.
He called this motor sport division of the Alfa Romeo cars as ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ which when translated meant "the stable of horses".
One of his future engineered Alfa Romeo car was featured in a race with a prancing horse logo which went on to win the Race. It was then on that people began to notice the Ferrari brand. Thus the Ferrari motor racing cars were born.
He was madly in love with motor racing. But soon funds became an issue. Many people approached him and convinced Enzo to sell some of his racing engines inside an aesthetic sporty commercial car. And then a deal was struck, the salesman would sell the Ferrari branded cars to customers in the US. This brought a huge deal of money to Enzo.
Enzo Ferrari had zero interest on the commercial side of Ferrari and it was just a means of getting funding for his love for racing. He spent major time on perfecting his sports team and getting the team to win at major racing events like the Le Mans and Formula one.
As Ferrari raced they also competed against FIAT sports cars. Most of the years Ferrari won them one after the other causing FIAT to back out of the events fearing negative publicity. Thus Enzo Ferrari had his revenge on the FIAT company.
Enzo Ferrari was thus a leader in bringing the best of sports and super-cars to life, on to the track as well as on to the roads so that a common man could experience the joy of a powerful machine. He will forever be remembered in history for creating the iconic Ferrari brand.
