Online Bullying on the Rise

in OCD4 years ago

We all agree that bullying is bullying whether it's face to face or online. I am not talking about the bullying among peers, or colleagues or between classmates. I am talking about Bullying of teachers while taking the online class. And the bullying is not only done by students but their parents too.

There might not be 100s of cases to support my cases but I have read 2-3 instances about it and its rising as more and more teachers are taking the classes. First of all this pandemic has affected all of us, some are getting paid and some are not paid and some are furloughed. Some teachers I know are not getting paid by schools, the school said that they will be paying only when the school restarts.

Similarly, some teachers are only been given 50% of the salary, which is ok I guess. But the problem now is that they have to take online classes which is again a headache when you don't have proper setup at home. I have seen viral photos of teachers putting phone on a hanger or some other way as shown below.

Similarly, some of the old teachers do not actually know how to operate zoom meetings or any online meetings which are again a problem for them. Like they have to teach, get queries from all the students as well as make sure that the sound is appropriate so that students can listen.

This is all new to the old teachers along with that since it's online if someone is bullying you, you cannot actually recognize him or her too. This is what happened with one of the teacher where an unknown id got access to the meeting and he started abusing the teachers. Now for teachers there reputation is one thing which they cannot play with and thus these instances of bullying is actually bad for the teachers and students relationship.

So this was about the students, there might be other instances also but I don't know much about them. There was one instance that I have read today that a parent has scolded a teacher in an online class because that teacher did not allow the kid to speak. This is bad too because first of all being a parent you should not interfere, and if you have to say something you can say after the class too.

I have high respect for all my teachers, they are the ones who shape our futures by teaching us and thus these instances shake me to the core. When I was studying in a school we used to be friendly with the teachers but also we used to know our limit, but I think now the relationship between students and teachers are deteriorating. And with online classes, this has become much worse.

Hopefully, students and parents should know that they are humans after all and they can also make mistakes it is just that this is all new for all of us.

When there is sudden change in people's life, they get irritated.

Then they try to irritate others😄

That's absolutely true, but again the parents should understand. I think they were just showing their frustrations on teachers.

Could be...or it's just that teachers don't understand the tech well. And they don't know who is doing what on the other side.

I have seen videos where students have played songs, porn, abused teachers...because they don't know who is talking on the other side(unless they recognise the voice.)

I see this as a way students use to show off...And to take revenge from the teachers who were not good to students during classes.

Anyways....some people realise it in some time. Some never does and keeps bullying others online throughout their life.

Yeah I think this is where the parents have to chip in, especially on the online classes to make them understand what is correct and what not.
