Our 1 month on Hive: what an epic ride so far! 🚀❤

in OCD3 years ago (edited)

Hi all, ✌

this post is long overdue but we finally had some extra time to share with your our thoughts about Hive after about a month since we made our first post here.

Just to remind first time readers who am I.

I’m mom, a kindergarten teacher and have been a ✂️ craft blogger since 2015, making paper craft videos and tutorials. I’m followed by millions of teachers and parents from all around the globe on my social media: Facebook 2.5 million followers Instagram 330K YouTube 93 K

So lets start with the first post! Link

There is only one word to properly describe it.... WOW! 🤩🤩

This has blown us away. I think this doesn’t happen here everyday right?. Here are some screenshots we took. It for sure will be one of the highlights of our successes we had.

What a reaction and support! Totally unexpected.

So thank you all for such a warm welcome!🙌

Our progress so far 🐱‍🏍

At the moment, this is our 18th post we made. The schedule is set to 3 post a week, typically Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. We share mainly our new crafts + templates and we are quite happy with the results so far.

incredible support to us with all tips and tricks Hive offers so HUGE shout out to him. There is a lot to fine-tune and experiment with, so having someone who has walked the path before is great.Tom has spent hours on the phone or texting with @phortun , who was and still is an

What we learned + changes to our process 🚀

Since we are in the business for some time, we always try to innovate and improve our process and efficiency. Adding another platform to the mix is always time-consuming, as when we make new post Hive is always first place, then we continue with others.

Obviously, we needed to optimize our images, copy etc so we don’t have to make 4 different ones each time. So we try to make the best on Hive first and then follow up with other platforms.

Also we weren’t happy with the quality of our pictures, so we invested into new 📷 camera and post production to really stand out in the crowd. ✨

To give an idea, each craft takes me about 3 hours to create, prototype and make and another hour for shooting and posting on all of our channels. It used to take us double the time one year ago.

❔ If anyone would like to learn more about the process work in a bit more details, let me know in the comments, we could make another post just focusing on this.

Some challenges 🌱

I am not a tech person, I am leaving most of the stuff on Tom. Here I see a potential challenge in our growth here, mainly by introducing Hive to the rest of my followers.

I know my audience well over the years, and most of them do struggle with stuff beyond major social media, emails etc. Getting them understand my membership program, recurring payments etc. is difficult at best.

To be effective here, you have to really understand what is going on, see value and understand the motivation of why would you use this over some other platform. And lets be honest, the average mom, teacher etc, is not the type.

So here lies a challenge where we would like to know and learn from others here. What is the best way to communicate in a simple way, have some easy how to set up etc. for people out there. Something to explore further in the next weeks and months.

We can’t really complain about rewards or upvotes, but I always appreciate when someone makes and sends picture of the craft I did. So far no one has done it here but we learned to be patient ☺

What’s coming? 😎

Outside the challenges, we really like it here so we will stride forward!

❔ We would like to try sharing content outside “just crafts”. But we would like to know from you what would be of interest.😺

Some examples
  • Our journey so far, starting from 0 to where we are now
  • Learnings and successes being content creators for 7 years
  • Creative process, how we make posts, etc.

We plan to invest all our earnings + something extra to our HP, to give rewards to our followers and fans.

Next we would like to explore possibilities of making our own community here, as this was suggested by several experienced Hiveans (do I get it right?😁).

❔ Also, if anyone successfully introduced Hive to their followers on other social media, and has tips and tricks to do it, please let me know

Of course, we will keep posting craft ideas. Currently Easter and Spring is the theme and more is coming after for sure.

Thanks again to everyone who is following us, we are having a blast and it's great to be here.

Hi. Perhaps you might like to be of a community member and visit and read other peoples blogs. I notice you rarely reply to your comments and haven't seen one comment from you on another persons post.

There is a makers community here where many people produce simple children's crafts like yours, might I suggest, you take a look and perhaps drop some helpful comments.

Hive is about community engagement and about following as well as followers.

Best Wishes :-)

Along with my comment, what he said is also important.

You are right, we have to get better at this. Having hundreds of comments to reply every day on all platform is tough :) Thank you for the suggestion!

I understand that Hive is a little different but it's all very personal here which, apart from the rewards, sets it apart.

It's also a steeper learning curve and you're very new so don't worry!

Lots of help and advice to be had here and on discord, you only have to holler :-)

The other suggestion would be creating your own community, getting all your other subscribers over and boom, everyone's a winner.

The young fella who commented below me is runs a community incubation service and might be able to help you out.

Good luck. One step at a time :-)

Hey, thanks for your advise. I already told them about the importance of engagement here on Hive. The idea was that after finding their bearings here, they would create their own "Crafting with Reny" community, bring some of their fans from other platforms here (even a 1% recruitment rate would be huge, given they have a total of 3 million fans elsewhere) and then engage with them within the community. Just as you said, everyone would be a winner then :) Let´s hope it will pan out as planned...

Yes, let's hope so. It could then be a model for other, well followed creators to copy. Her own community would be a brilliant way to go.

Best wishes and cheers for dropping by :-)

Exactly ;) Cheers!

Cheers and thanks again! :)

Good start, I suggest looking into some more niche specific communities as it may get you more visibility and followers rather than posting into the generic one shown in your screenshot or OCD as it may get hidden in the masses. We have a list of communities we support pinned to the OCD community to help drive traffic to them, check if some of them fit your content!

Thank you for the comment and suggestions, much appreciated!

Take it slow. This is a process. We are still in the techy stages of Web 3.0. However, it is crucial that people start to get involved as soon as possible. You already see the potential.

I want to echo what others said. Get involved with the community and the posts of others. Start to understand some of the workings of Hive and how it all fits together.

We have a lot of powerful things being developed here. Understanding all this puts one in a strong position going forward. The next 5 years on Hive can change someone's life completely.

Indeed it is! Its for sure a long game. Thank you for the feedback! I would be curious to see what is being done to enable Hive for more users :)

What an epic ride indeed! So glad to have you here guys and see you this excited about your Hive experience so far and your plans for the future :) I am sure creating your own community and starting onboarding your fans from the other platforms will be another level of epicness :) Good luck and Hive on!
