Don't mind me... just a few more radiant vortexes passing through your feed

More radiant vortexes
____

I've been making a lot of kaleidoscopic images these past few months in Final Cut Pro by processing photographs and other digital images in various ways and compositing them. Recently, I started incorporating Deep Dream Generator to create new variations to the base images to provide more fodder for inspiration. The "Neuron" engine is my favorite so far, generating structures evocative of microscopic cellular landscapes.

As I've stated in the past, creating images in this vein ends up being a sort of meditation for me — a nice release from working with the particularities and vagaries of words so much in both song, verse, and prose form. I do, however, also enjoy creating verse poetry that is inspired by images and using them as a sort of nexus where my thoughts can settle and concentrate.

At the same time, as the famous saying goes — a picture is worth a thousand words. There is plenty of merit behind the pure appreciation for the contours of form, figure, value, and hue without the need for any explanation. And yet, here I am doing that very thing! Ah well. Paradoxes and seeming contradictions are the stuff human life is made of.

*

Sometimes when I'm creating in "hyperfocus mode" for quite a while — often ending up with a lot of content — I tend to "hoard" the best parts of the session, or think I need to tuck them away in some corner waiting for a more prime opportunity to do them justice in some way — and end up forgetting about them. I'm sure many creations will languish in the cobwebby attics or cellars of my imagination for years on end.

So I thought, why not just share all these from my recent session on June 30th? I have so many projects constantly going — especially in the music realm — that chances are good I will neglect to share something and it will vanish into the sea from the misty shores of memory if I don't take some tangible action on it.

Creating art of whatever sort I happen to stumble upon a liking and a process for is my way of processing my experience in the world and tangibly responding to global current events. There are many manners of response to circumstance — of which, a large portion are relatively fruitless, dissipate one's energy and that of others, and generally contribute to further decay of collective human homeostasis.

It takes self-control, self-honesty, and commitment to principle, but it is possible to cultivate a mentality that is not easily shaken out-of-focus by pervasive media and groupthink influence. One thing that can be a wonderful aid in this regard is the appreciation of beauty. To quote one of my mentors —

Beauty is akin to perfection.

Hahaha! That's awesome... thanks for checking out the new tune demos :-)

I love that stuff. Would it be ok if I used your ambient track on a video if I gave credit and left a link in the description?

Yes, absolutely feel free to use it :-D

Very interesting experiment, I'm surprised that you have made in Final Cut Pro, any special plugin? I'm a fan of Final Cut Pro although confess that I'm still using the old version 7.0 and it took me a while to adapt to the X, in any case, I like kaleidoscopic images a lot, regards!
