Well, here it is just in case you missed it. I think it was the last few upvotes I received for my Hive open-mic post that took me up to 66.
I think it took me maybe 2 months to move up and it was because I only started adopting some of the things I did later on.
But here are a few things that I did to get from 65 to 66 that were kind of different.
Stay consistent
Weirdly Hive has all my receipts for all the work I have put in overtime. I wrote a blog post titled "Saving time, what I learned from a person with 70+ reputation".
I really didn't hit on the topic as much I wanted to in that post but that was the day I decided I would try to wake up as early as possible to engage with posts at least 2 hours ago I found interesting.
By doing that I found that I knew more about my interests and I built more on them. I would also take out 20-30 mins to make a post. This has been the main ingredient that caused me to move up.
Engaging in posts also allows you to make new friends who are genuinely interested in your content. If you are lucky you might meet someone who would be consistently upvoting you or advising you on how you can get upvotes.
It is difficult to stay consistent I know but if you make it 30-60 mins a day it can't hurt that much. It will make you better at writing or singing or whatever it is your content is.
Singing every week
I have been participating in competitions every week including #hiveopenmice #soundmusic, and #music even though the #music community is not a competition I try to stay consistent with it.
I also play the piano
I have noticed that my musical ability is picking up to almost what it used to be before I stopped playing the piano. This has invited more viewers to my page and increased my upvotes. People love to see you showing up and putting in the effort.
Better quality graphic designs
My graphic design ability has gotten better. I am also quicker with it. I think about what I want to do and put it out there.
It attracts people to your work. Even though there are posts I have made with decent graphics that didn't do as well as I hoped I am still trying to get better for myself and nobody else.
I use Inkscape to do my graphics and it takes time because I don't have a pad and stylos I still want to perfect my art and grow it more.
I plan on finishing several courses on Inkscape when I've reached some of my financial targets.
Posting on Xhaust
Every day I post my fitness report on Xhaust and I get a small token from it. Even though it is small (and one time it wasn't $7 for a post) I am grateful for it. It has been adding at least $3.5 to my payout every week. Whoever is behind the working of that page is a hard worker and deserves some accolades.
He checks out for each and every one of my posts and upvotes it and this tiny drop has been growing this ocean I am trying to build.
Increasing my payout
My payout has increased and this isn't so much something I had control over. It was only as a result of the increased upvotes.
There was a time I use to make less than $10 a week with all my consistency. I remember that it was difficult trying to post on hive every week because I also had another writing job taking up my time.
When I dropped those other jobs that were competing for my creative ability and just chased Hive I was consistently making over $10 a post.
Now I'm making close to $20 every week. some weeks even more than that. I know it is a small pay compared to what some people make every week but It keeps me grateful.
