Vogel-Nestwurz ■ The bird's-nest orchid

Zwischen den trockenen Blättern am Waldboden wächst diese unscheinbare Orchidee. Sie kommt bei weitem nicht so spektakulär wie viele andere ihrer Art daher und findet kaum Beachtung. Sie schmückt sich nicht mit bunten Blüten und führt ein Leben ohne durch optische Pracht zu glänzen.
This inconspicuous orchid grows between the dry leaves on the forest floor. It is by far not as spectacular as many others of its kind and is hardly noticed. It does not adorn itself with colourful flowers and leads a life without shining through optical splendour.

Namensgeber waren die Wurzeln, die wie ein Vogelnest ausschauen soll. Überprüft habe ich das nie, den Orchideen stehen unter Naturschutz. Die Orchidee steht in vollkommener Abhängigkeit von Pilzen. Ohne diese kann diese Orchidee nicht leben. Bis die Pflanze das erste Mal blüht, vergehen neun Jahre. Ihre Blüten verbreiten einen honigartigen Duft.
The name was given by the roots, which are said to look like a bird's nest. I never checked, the orchids are under nature protection. The orchid is totally dependent on fungi. Without them this orchid cannot live. It takes nine years for the plant to bloom for the first time. Its flowers spread a honey-like scent.

Orchideen im Wald zu fotografieren ist immer eine besondere Herausforderung. Das Licht wechselt permanent und man muss sich ständig auf die wechselnden Situationen einstellen. Sonne und Wolken waren an diesem Tag im stetigen Wechsel. Böig auffrischender Wind hielt alles in Bewegung. Ich musste den richtigen Moment abpassen um das Licht und ganz besonders den kurzen Moment mit wenig Wind abpassen.
Photographing orchids in the forest is always a special challenge. The light is permanently changing and you have to adapt to the changing situations. Sun and clouds were in constant change on this day. Gusty winds kept everything in motion. I had to wait for the right moment to catch the light and especially the short moment with little wind.

the natural color of flowers, sometimes we forget that the natural one has a high meaning. like this flower, the color does not spoil the eyes, but has an extraordinary fragrance.
