Hive es una plataforma de creación y consumo de contenido que resultó de la bifurcación de la blockchain steem por causas que tienen mucho que ver con el título de esta publicación; la adquisición de Steemit.inc por parte de un reconocido empresario de origen coreano, desató un clima hostil con serias amenazas de autodominio dictatorial, aptitud que se mantiene con acciones abusivas al censurar contenidos, bloquear cuentas e incluso entorpecer el proceso de retiro de fondos por parte de usuarios con significativas sumas.

Hive is a content creation and consumption platform that resulted from the bifurcation of the blockchain steem for causes that have much to do with the title of this publication; the acquisition of Steemit.inc by a well-known businessman of Korean origin, unleashed a hostile climate with serious threats of dictatorial self-control, an aptitude that is maintained with abusive actions when censoring content, blocking accounts and even hindering the process of withdrawal of funds by users with significant amounts.

Motivado a esto, desde Hive se promueve la libertad de expresión en todos los sentidos; el autor puede sentirse libre de plasmar su pensamiento en letra o video y se mantendrá visible de forma permanente en la red, sin restricciones como las que se vienen estimulando en algunas redes sociales.

Motivated by this, Hive promotes freedom of expression in all senses; the author can feel free to express his thought in words or video and it will remain permanently visible on the network, without restrictions like those that have been stimulated in some social networks.

Para mi la libertad de expresión es un derecho natural y social adquirido desde el mismo momento en que damos el primer aliento y lanzamos el llanto de nacimiento. Aunque es un derecho natural no siempre fue así, para ser un derecho social como principio universal y constitucional se libraron muchos años de lucha y costó millones de vida. En pleno amanecer del siglo XXI hay naciones cuyos sistemas sociales y políticos mantienen restringido este derecho, esta cultura a brincado fronteras y quiere hospedarse en las principales cadenas de comunicación y redes sociales del mundo.

For me, freedom of expression is a natural and social right acquired from the very moment we take our first breath and cry at birth. Although it is a natural right it was not always so, to be a social right as a universal and constitutional principle many years of struggle were fought and it cost millions of lives. At the dawn of the 21st century there are nations whose social and political systems keep this right restricted, this culture has jumped over borders and wants to be hosted by the main communication chains and social networks in the world.

Ante este panorama se encienden las alarmas de la consciencia social, como Hive nace precisamente del clamor por una comunidad con ideales y principios de libertad de expresión y expansión del pensamiento tecnológico, empresarial, creativo, social, cultural y diverso en general, @theycallmedan ha promovido esta nueva iniciativa para blindar esa consciencia de no censura a la libertad de expresión.

Faced with this panorama, the alarms of the social conscience are lit, as Hive is born precisely from the clamor for a community with ideals and principles of freedom of expression and expansion of technological, business, creative, social, cultural and diverse thought in general, @theycallmedan has promoted this new initiative to shield this consciousness of no censorship of freedom of expression.

¿Por qué es importante? / Why is it important?

La libertad de expresión permite comunicar nuestras ideas, opiniones, pensamientos, acuerdos o desacuerdos, elevar protestas contra acciones públicas o privadas que nos parezcan inadecuadas, entre otras cosas. Ahora bien, muchas veces bajo la bandera de libertad de expresión se quiere promover odio, violencia, conductas y comportamientos patológicos en detrimento de personas con cierto nivel de vulnerabilidad, tal es el caso de niños, adolescentes, mujeres o personas con alguna discapacidad. En esto hay que estar conscientes que está prohibido y por ningún motivo puede admitirse discursos sediciosos que manipulen la realidad.

Freedom of expression allows us to communicate our ideas, opinions, thoughts, agreements or disagreements, to raise protests against public or private actions that we consider inappropriate, among other things. However, many times under the banner of freedom of expression we want to promote hatred, violence, pathological behaviour and conduct to the detriment of people with a certain level of vulnerability, such as children, adolescents, women or people with a disability. In this we must be aware that it is forbidden and for no reason can seditious speeches that manipulate reality be admitted.

Esto es importante mencionarlo, porque se evita caer en terrenos sombríos de fanatismo y pisar arenas prohibidas que para nada son censura a la libertad de expresión. Por ejemplo, en algunos medios o redes sociales puedes tropezarte con discursos que promueven el racismo, odio o terrorismo. Estar o no de acuerdo con la postura política, religiosa, cultural o étnica de una persona no da derecho a expresar los oscuros pensamientos que el ego humano pueda sentir hacia los demás. Por supuesto, saber donde está la línea divisoria de lo que es censura y lo que es libertad de expresión es relativamente fácil; sin embargo, los intereses, impulsos egocéntricos, ceguedad por falta de conocimiento, entre otros, hace pecar a muchos que ondean banderas de libertad de expresión.

This is important to mention, because it avoids falling into the shadowy lands of fanaticism and treading on forbidden sands that are not at all a censorship of freedom of expression. For example, in some media or social networks you can stumble upon speeches that promote racism, hate or terrorism. Whether or not you agree with a person's political, religious, cultural, or ethnic stance does not give you the right to express the dark thoughts that the human ego may feel toward others. Of course, knowing where the dividing line is between censorship and freedom of expression is relatively easy; however, interests, self-centered impulses, blindness from lack of knowledge, and so on, cause many to sin by waving flags of freedom of expression.

En Venezuela, algunos ciudadanos tienen la creencia que se puede expresar cualquier cantidad de barbaridades hacia una persona que ocupa un cargo público o si es figura artística o hace vida en algún medio del sistema social. Considero importante el respeto hacia la esencia humana de los demás, así no respete ni esté de acuerdo con su conducta o comportamiento por las razones que sea. Así, se cayó en un ciclo irrespetuoso donde es casi común el discurso de odio y división social entre afectos al gobierno de turno y quienes se oponen a las políticas o falta de políticas públicas del ejecutivo nacional.

In Venezuela, some citizens have the belief that any number of atrocities can be expressed towards a person who holds a public office or is an artistic figure or lives in some milieu of the social system. I consider it important to respect the human essence of others, even if I do not respect or agree with their conduct or behavior for whatever reason. Thus, we have fallen into a disrespectful cycle where it is almost common to hear hateful speech and social division between those who are affectionate to the government in power and those who oppose the policies or lack of public policies of the national executive.

Tengo poco tiempo viviendo fuera de Venezuela; sin embargo, percibí esta situación estando allá. Entre los aspectos más explosivos en la libertad de expresión se encuentran los políticos y religiosos, son dinamita pura que acaban con la paz, armonía y relaciones de familia, amigos y llevan al colapso de un preocupante conflicto en la sociedad. @theycallmedan no pudo haber lanzado una mejor iniciativa que la de reflexionar sobre la libertad de expresión. El mismo hecho que haya descrito una situación particular de mi nación para ilustrar el contexto temático, es un vivo ejemplo de libertad de expresión a plenitud en Hive

I have little time living outside Venezuela; however, I perceived this situation while I was there. Among the most explosive aspects in freedom of expression are the political and religious ones, they are pure dynamite that end up with peace, harmony and relations with family, friends and lead to the collapse of a worrying conflict in society. @theycallmedan could not have launched a better initiative than to reflect on freedom of expression. The very fact that I have described a particular situation in my nation to illustrate the thematic context, is a living example of freedom of expression to the full in Hive.

Qué podría ocurrir aquí, algo simple de deducir. Que afectos al gobierno me señalen de desleal o que estoy hablando sin fundamentos sólidos; como también, podría ser tildada de aliada al gobierno o cualquier calificativo más decente por parte de la oposición. En todo caso, en ningún grupo estoy de acuerdo con las agresiones en nombre de una supuesta libertad de expresión.

What could happen here, something simple to deduce. I could be accused of being disloyal to the government or speaking out of turn; I could be accused of being a government ally or any other more decent description by the opposition. In any case, in no group do I agree with the attacks in the name of a supposed freedom of expression.

Hasta aquí mis reflexiones sobre la libertad de expresión, Hive nace bajo el paradigma de permitir a cada quien expresar libremente sus ideas, opiniones y desacuerdos, sin censurar su derecho fundamental a la comunicación; ahora bien, como he mencionado antes, depende de cada autor, lector, curador o inversor, conocer la línea entre el terreno franco y el arenoso sombrío de la censura, para hacer valer el derecho a su libertad de expresión. So far my reflections on freedom of expression, Hive was born under the paradigm of allowing everyone to freely express their ideas, opinions and disagreements, without censorship of their fundamental right to communication; however, as I mentioned before, it is up to each author, reader, curator or investor to know the line between the free and the dark sandy ground of censorship, in order to assert the right to their freedom of expression.
