Fullcoverbetting's Euro2021 Contest! (A small prize pool for the moment)

Back in the Steem days I did organize a World Cup contest. While in first instance limiting the number of entrance to 100, I did allow 174 participants.

I was doubting for a long time if I would organize such a contest once again. During the registration days, it took me a lot of time to enter all participants. Also due to a Covid year I was lacking the energy to organize this. But we have to be honest, it is always nicer to look at the Euros with a pool engagement.

Another reason not to organize was that back in those days my steem account was much more healthy than my current Hive wallet. So I could trow in a small amount of SBD to the prize pool. Now I am unfortunately not in a situation to donate something to the prize pool.
With the cooperation of some sponsors we managed to dig up 110 SBD as prize pool.

The tournament

For the first time, the Euro's wont be played in one country, to celebrate Europe the games will be played in 12 countries.
There are 6 pools with 4 teams. The first 2 of each pool and the 4 second best thirds will qualify for the knock-out rounds.

More information can be found on the Uefa's Euro 2020 website:
https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/

Entries

For the moment I will limit the number of max entrants to 150. If I do reach this, I will probably keep on adding.

The rules

  • Only entry per Hive account!

  • Each contender have to pick 12 countries, from each pot (used during the draw of the Euros) 3 teams need to be picked.

  • Each country may be only picked once by the participant, so it is not allowed, to choose France 3 times from pot 1!

Pot 1Pot 2Pot 3Pot 4
BelgiumFrancePortugalFinland
ItalyPolandTurkeyHungary
EnglandSwitzerlandDenmarkNorth Macedonia
GermanyCroatiaAustriaScotland
SpainThe NetherlandsSwedenSlovakia
UkraineRussiaCzech RepublicWales
  • Every country has to be given a coefficient between 1 and 12, where each coefficient may only be used once!

  • Points:
-- For every game a country wins (in regular time) they will be awarded 3 points
-- For every game a country draws (after regular time) they will be awarded 1 point
-- For every goals the team scores during the regular time, they will be awarded 1 point (Goals made during the extra time do not count)
-- For instance: Germany – France: 3 -1. Germany will get 6 points (3 for the win and 3 for the 3 goals), France will get 1 point (1 for the goal scored)

  • As long as the team is playing games, it can score points.

The points will be multiplied with the coefficient.
Assume that Germany would have a coefficient of 6 and France of 12, Germany will get 6 times 6 = 36 points, France will get 1 times 12 = 12 points

  • The participant with the highest number of points at the end of the Euros, will be the winner!

To eliminate to possibility of a tie between 2 participants, there is a tiebreaker:

  • Total number of goals during the complete tournament (only the ones used for the calculation, so goals in extra time will not count)
If it is still after this the prize if applicable will be divided.

Or in short like @ervin-lemark likes to summarize it:

In short, make your list of 12 teams with picking three teams from each draw pot. During the Euros you will receive points according to the games they win and goals they score, multiplied by their coefficient. Simple :)

Prize pool

For the moment there isn't a real prize pool. I will see what I can do, and will try to add some HBD to the prize pool. I am always open for sponsorship of course.
But does there always have to be a prize pool? For most people yes for others no.

Forget about all of that. I will set the prize pool to 10 HBD. If sponsors do come by, it will increase of course. Depending on the number of entries, the prize pool will be distributed.

Entry requirements

In the first registration phase the number of participants is limited to 150 participants.

  • Minimal reputation requirement is 35! If you do feel that you are a genuine Hive member but doesn't reach the reputation requirement drop me a comment and I will let you know if you are able to register!
  • Upvoting is **not required **to participated in the contest, but is very much appreciated. The pay-out of these registration posts could increase the Prize Pool!
  • There is one and only one Jury member, which is me!
  • I will reply to each registration if it was registered successfully or not
  • Registration comments should be done as follows:
'country name in English' - 'coefficient' (12 times) (For instance: France - 12)
Number of goals during the regular time of the world cup: xx

Registration will close when 150 participants have entered or on Thursday 10th of June 2021!
Cheaters will be excluded! Just like double accounts and so on!

Closing words

While I am honored that I can organize this competition, it takes a lot of times. Lots of time.
You all can help me by controlling your entries before sending them in, this will save me a lot of time.
Also there are no upvote, follow or re-hive requirements. But I do hope on some friendly banter during the Euros.

Feel free to re-hive or upvote this post, but this isn't mandatory.
Or to sponsor the contest! :)

Cheers,
Peter

You are the 4th. Don’t think it will surpass 20.
Only contests with a high prize pool would attract people.
To be honest I don’t mind, less work to do 😁

Sorry @costanza, I can't approve this entry. You have chosen Croatia twice. I do assume that you did mean Slovakia. Could you please reply on this comment with the new entry?
Thx,

Hey, Peter, this is great! And a lot of work for you :)

Yes, I remember the contest from years ago. I also remember I choose the wrong strategy to pick my teams. I took all the favourites and it didn't turn out well.

What shall I do now? Pick a mix of two favs and one potential surprise from each pool?

I'll also try to chip in some HBD for the rewards.

Reblogged!

To help us out with the tiebreaker - how many matches are in the tournament?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Only four entries so far? Hm ... You won't get a lot of work, obviously.

I thought of making some promotion for the contest yet I don't have enough time to put up a proper post. Sorry.

No problem. I could also make more advertisement to get more attention but it is fine like it is. 4 contenders , 3 prizes 😂.
There used to be days that steem would be full of contests like these. On Hive the prize pool could be too low or people are just have a lack of interest!
Ot is what it is.

OK, I'll be happy not to finish last :)
