RE: A matter of courtesy

in OCD5 years ago

I know man, I don't get it. Like you, if someone asked I would probably oblige. Let's say you were writing an anti-gun post and wanted to use an image I could supply rater than a stock image, I would be happy to send it to you knowing you would credit it in the post...It's not difficult.

The young man who did it has actually commented on this post. I purposely didn't mention his name, or that he was a he, as I didn't want him to suffer, although he outed himself and I respect him owning his transgression. He made a mistake, and with someone else he may got away with it. I do not believe it was done vindictively or with malice...He even tagged me in the post which indicates he had no clue. So, I'm not interested in punishing him. However others...They will be. It detracts from the quality of the blockchain and that's not what I want to see.

Anyway, I'm ever vigilant, and I know there are many others doing the same thing so that we can keep the blockchain on the up. Plagiarism is never ok.

So great of you not to out him in the post my friend.
I read your post and it is indeed unsettling.
Her image can be used by others for nefarious deeds.

We receive appeals here at the charity with a picture such as your wive's.
"I is a sigly mom wit 3 childrens to ask for you to help us"
Now you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see where this "appeal" comes from.

We attended a meeting here recently where some unsettling security things were explained to us. Clear faces of especially women and children are used by syndicates to raise money, or for porn purposes.
The lesson? Always look at the author! Why are they using such pictures?

I am not saying that your guy here is one of them, as he had the decency to apologize, but any stranger can now filch that picture from his page and use it for their own purposes.

So, a new law is being written here for charities. No clear faces of women and children and I like it!

Yes, the clear face image is an issue. There is someone here who likes to take them and make meme's and I'm sure they get many seconds of enjoyment from it, but it's not really something I'd expect to have happen between people who are supposed to respect others. Your examples are even more concerning. This is why mostly I have glasses on when I put images on. Usually have them on in photos anyway to be honest.

I is a sigly mom

For some reason the word sigly makes me laugh. Lol.

I think sigly could raise a knowing smile anywhere :)
We swim in an ocean with many sharks and have to be careful in all that we do here. Luckily my old face is so wrinkled that it will take a ton of ink to remove the desert tracks, so I don't have to worry much.
