Commission #2: A White Wolf and Retrofuturist Technology | Digital Art

in OCD4 years ago

Hi, folks! The commissions for @smanuels continue, today I bring you a white humanoid wolf, which is a wise part of a guild of wizards and mercenary scholars capable of manipulating technology at will. It is always good to remember that permission has been given to publish these commissions both here and on Instagram.

This is the second character that he illustrated for him, the first you can see here. It was fun and complicated to design this Technomante (that's the name of his race), since his clothes are made of black leather and this material wrinkles and shines too much, besides, who in their right mind wears black leather clothes in the middle of a tropical coast? These are questions that will never be answered.

Let's move on to the description of the character given to me by @smanuels and under which I guided the illustration.

Physical appearance description: He has a white coat, his eyes are silver like the moon at its zenith. He has a gray and lush hair that reaches the back.
Clothing description:
-Clothing head: It possesses a red scarf, in one of his eyes it carries a lens.
-Torso clothing: It has a black leather jacket.
-Legs clothing: Black leather pants.
-Footwear: Black leather shoes.
-Hands and arms dress: He carries a watch with a captivating steampunk design.
Average height and weight: 1.90, it is stylish.
Feature to be limited: It is located in a plain in the middle of the tropical coast.

Tools:

  • Wacom Intuos 4
  • Photoshop

-Step 1:

Start by sketching the character, I didn't want to make it static, but rather use a dynamic pose, with the wind moving your clothes.

-Step 2:

In a new layer below the sketch, I added color by filling in the character's silhouette and then using the layer block to be able to paint over them without getting out.

-Step 3:

With the oil brush, I progressively detailed the character, focusing mainly on his clothes and coat. Also, I added a little bit of landscape, in order to establish the lighting and shadows.

-Step 4:

With the airbrush, I tried to soften a little the strong strokes generated by the oil brushes, besides I gave the technological touches of the illustration, I had to google that it was the "steampunk" and I remembered that I had seen it in the movie Wild Wild West with Will Smith. Only until I thought that everything was ready, was when @smanuels, told me that the background was very flat, and he was right, so I improved it a little bit adding the sea and some more palms to the horizon.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

See you in a future post!
