in OCD4 years ago

Hello to all online art lovers and those who are learning to draw, self-taught. ^ _ ^

In my daily life things are still relatively normal, I helped my mom pierce the floor in front of the house to plant a cactus that I had in a pot and I was already planting it in the ground so that it would grow, and I'm becoming a fan of a rare series of terror, which I think is about stopping a vampire who does not drink blood without feeding on the souls of children, which he kidnaps in a place called Christmasland, the series does give a terrifying meaning to Christmas, the program It's called "NOS4A2" I highly recommend it because of the little I've seen of it

I had time without making a drawing guide, and it was time for me to resume them, because I know that they are of great help, both for me and for you; This is kind of funny, but this was supposed to be the first of all my guides, those who have been following me for a long time, will know that the main reason for making these guides was to serve as support material for my students. of drawing in the arts academy, but this idea came to my mind like the fifth class, and on the second day of classes I explained how to make the eyes (the first day is practice to release the hand) and that is the eyes are the first step to learn to draw well, it is where you start, not for nothing in almost all drawing courses and classes is the first thing taught, not only because of its vital importance in the works, but because to their complexity, to dominate them you get the confidence of being able to draw anything ^ _ ^

All the components of an image are crucial but in the drawing the eyes are perhaps the most important element, when representing the human, animal or any other developed figure of the own imagination, it is because of this that they are the first feature in defining when a drawing begins.

Parts of the eye

Ojos-1.png

In order to correctly draw an eye, you must know and identify all the parts that make it up.

The realistic eye

Before drawing in any other style such as manga, comic or cartoon, you must study and understand the realism in drawing and the eye is the best option to learn.

Ojos-2.gif

It begins by drawing a sketch similar to a leaf, on this the eyebrow area is defined, with the guide sketch ready, it begins to draw on it, all the contours of the parts of the eye, for the texture of the iris , two rows of small lines are made following the diameter of the pupil, to make the eyebrow each of the hairs must be drawn with small strokes, then volume is applied to the eyeball, the shadow should be intensified near the upper eyelid , finally apply soft shadows on the eyelids and strong in the folds of this.

The eye in profile

Ojos-3.gif

The eye seen in profile is drawn as an angle, and the upper eyelid is slightly ahead of the lower one.

The Stylized Eye

Stylization of the eye, is the favorite way of drawing of almost all artists, for being a much more simplified version of the realistic eye and for being even more expressive.

Ojos-4.gif

The same procedure is applied as when drawing a realistic eye, but in a more summarized and simple way in detail.

Stylization Examples

By simplifying the amount of detail of the eye, and with minimal changes in its elaboration, various results are obtained.

Ojos-5.gif

In this example, the eye is made with a very thin contour oval shape, the upper eyelashes are very thick, and a minimum mark for the lower one, the iris is made with 2 shades, one light and the other slightly dark.

Ojos-6.gif

In this type of eye it is based on a style widely used in the manga industry, it is minimalist but very expressive, the pupil and the iris are drawn as a single black oval, a great curve to represent the upper lashes, with a tip defined to this final.

Ojos-7.gif

This type of eye is one of the most used in the manga and anime style, it is more common to see them in female characters, although also in men, the shape of the eyes is in a pentagon way with very defined eyelashes, and it is applied a very slim contour on the shine.

Ojos-8.gif

The most notorious feature in this style is that the pupil is not drawn, only a gradient is made throughout the iris with a white circle as a brightness within it, the upper tab is represented as a large black wave and draws the very small tear .

Ojos-9.gif

This eye is also based on the modern manga style, but with a little more detail in the eyelashes and the iris with an emphasis on the gradients both in the eyeball and the iris where it is more intense and the eyebrow becomes more defined.

Ojos-10.gif

The most minimalist eye design of all and used mainly in newspaper strip and children's book cartoons, only a thick curve is made to represent the upper lashes and a circle or black oval, the eyebrow is made pronounced, thick in designs masculine and fine in the feminine.

Ojos-11.gif

In the design of this eye it takes features from both the anime style and the cartoon style, it is done in a very rounded way, greatly exaggerating the iris size, especially the pupil covering most of it, the brightness is made with a very small oval.

Ojos-12.gif

This is a completely cartoon style, where the eye is made in a semicircular shape with a thin contour and is highlighted with a thick curve on the upper side, the iris is made in detail and with a large brightness inside it.

The look in 3/4

Ojos-13.gif

To draw a 3/4 look, the eye furthest from the viewer's point of view is drawn narrower but keeping the same height as the other.

The brightness of the eyes

A factor that gives life to a drawing are the points of light reflected in the eyes, these indicate where the light focus of the entire image is located.

Eye Direction

An important feature when drawing any character or portrait is the look and the direction in which it points, it is recommended to use a guide line or arrow to fix a point of attention in which both eyes point.

Ojos-17.png

It should be known that the eye is a sphere, and rotates according to the direction in which it looks.

These tutorials are absolutely top notch. I have bought a pretty good illustration book from a successful Youtuber. But your series is beyond all expectations. Maybe I should start practicing again. Your material certainly motivates to do so. Keep it up!

You could say that little little, I am making my drawing book, each one of my guides are the size of a letter sheet, you always have to practice drawing over and over again to improve, and I am glad to know that my material motivates me to do it ^ _ ^

Cool, you should announce it here on Hive when your book is done.

Sometimes we are speechless when we see people as talented as you, my dear inujim, this guide is incredible, thanks for sharing, I consider that for some of us it will be very useful.

Thank you very much my dear @sweetmonsters exactly that is the reason why I make these guides to motivate help and that it is very useful for those who have some problems when drawing ^ _ ^
