Records as shown that 41% of global waste is been burnt openly i.e 620 million tons of waste is burned per year.

As effective and easy this appears, burning your waste is NOT a good idea, as there are several negative impacts that comes with it.

Below are the several hazardous impacts:

  1. Air pollution: Burning basically transfers garbage from the land to the air; this contaminating it. More specifically, bite piles of waste releases particulate matter and toxic chemicals that are harmful to human health, particularly the lungs and the eyes.

  2. FIRE OUTBREAKS: It's quite possible for waste burning to go haywire—especially during dry weathers. When these burnings are not contained, wayward cinders could lead to a fire that could raze homes and buildings.

  3. GLOBAL WARMING: On a larger scale, greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere through burning. These gases cause depletion of the ozone layer and allows easy penetration of the sun's harmful UV rays.

  4. Water pollution: Aside reducing quality of air, burning also poses a treat to water and general life in it. Poisonous compounds are washed off into the streams and nearby rivers during rainfalls. This results in reduction in water quality and harm to aquatic lives.

Let me stop here for now....
