What is freedom of speech?
the authority or legitimate right to express one's opinions without censorship, restraint, caution or legal penalty.
Many of the countries does not have the freedom of speech. Its very difficult for them to express their mind to the government and also to one another. I thought all independent communities are liable to free speech but No! Some fi the independent countries doesn't have freedom of speech, even of the constitution backs it up.
There are countries that has least amount of freedom. Countries like, Syria, Tibet, South Sudan, Eritrea, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan crimea, Libya, China, Cuba etc...
Where as, this shouldn't be, because everyone should be equilibrium under the law ⚖. No one is above the law.
Here in my country "Nigeria", the freedom of expression is protected by section 39 (1) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution. Despite of this constitutional protection, the Nigerian media was controlled by the government throughout its history and even to this day.
Today in Nigeria, three(3) were been arrested for expressing themselves to the masses and globe. Every citizen has it own legitimate right for speech and there should not be any penalties for it.
But we thank God for the new technology, where you can make suggestions online and you won't be arrested for doing that, because there would also be references and support to that.
But, we pray God intervain in this matter of liberty. We need liberty, we need freedom of speech, we need right to everything as human beings.
