Savski Trg (Sava Square) and the Monument Stefan Nemanja, Belgrade

in OCD2 years ago

Hello people, I will describe one of the most beautiful and my favorite parts of Belgrade. Savski Trg was opened in 1884 and is a cult place in Belgrade. It is also a tourist spot that is beautiful for taking pictures, resting, enjoying and wandering.

The monument is located right in front of the Main Railway Station and was built last year (2021). The monument is 23 meters high and contains a broken shield and a sword that represent and symbolize the emergence of the Serbian medieval state, as well as the separation from the Byzantine Empire.

Stefan Nemanja is the progenitor of the Nemanjica dynasty and a great prefect.

The square used to be called the square of brothers and unity.

The park is beautiful, as can be seen from the attached picture.

The Railway Station building is beautiful after it was renovated and is one of the oldest buildings in Belgrade.

Enjoy

Great photos! Great park too!
The railway station looks so vintage, I like it!
And the monument is nice. So that's a broken shield, I thought at first it was destroyed by something. 😅 It holds a special meaning to the history I see.

By the way, maybe you can check out the Pinmapple community for post such as this.
