Joining OCD as a formerly unaware 'whitelisted content creator'

Yup, apparently I was an "old OCDB-whitelisted content creator", and I had no clue :P You might ask, "how did you not know?" Am I making this up? Did I just make myself a member by my own authority?

Well, I didn't know, really. I was never told about being included in this community. That is, until I saw this message in my transfers list from the @ocd account:

Lo and behold! I was part of the OCD community for some time! Thank you for welcoming me officially :)

I have since joined the Hive OCD community. Hello :)

It seems like pretty much anything is talked about here. The focus on curation seems to be 'Original Content', as is mentioned in the description of the group. I think I do original content, but how original does it have to be?

Do all your images need to be original, made by yourself? I see posts with images that come from the internet, and they get voted on by the @ocd account.

So it seems the focus is on writing things yourself. Great! I think my content fits. I type everything myself :P No copy paste ;)

Of course, there are degrees of 'original' writing as well, since you can read or watch things, and then talk about that information. Or you can think of things yourself, or whats going on in your life, etc., and write about that. So much of our knowledge or awareness comes from our surroundings, be it what other people do, what other people write, the videos or audio other people make, etc., that it would be hard to talk about things that don't come from other sources.

No one is an island, after all ;) Since we all share a common reality and talk about things other people talk about, not much is purely 'original' in itself. So I'll take 'original content' to pretty much mean you don't copy paste ;) Let me know if that's accurate.

What's your take on the meaning of 'original content'?

I look forward to posting in here in the future. Take care for now. Peace!

Who knew?

😂

p.s

liked my own comment by accident 🙈

Yep, by accident... you need at least 2¢ to make it pay out.

^_^

kindly..find a cliff

Found one! Thanks, sorry.

you called me controlled media but I guess i can forgive you one day

Yeah, we need a support group ya know, and can't just let anyone in :P

OCD is the best community on Hive!

Really? Good to know ;)

Thats great for you. I hope i could be noticed like yourself

My personal opinion is slightly subjective. Original poetry or prose with 3rd party images are OK by me, provided attribution is included for full transparency. I am mostly ok with using someone else's art as part of an original project, such as adding meme captions or inspirational quotations. Attribution is still a key indicator of honesty IMHO.

I agree with this. Many images on internet are free to use but it would be appreciated if user cite the image properly, giving the original photographer recognition for their work. Example on pexel license, it stated " Attribution is not required. Giving credit to the photographer or Pexels is not necessary but always appreciated."

Yeah, sourcing the image is good practice.

I'm not a fan if intellectual property claims, but giving credit where credit is due is basic honesty, and overt plagiarism indicates a lack of personal integrity.
