My new boat arrived... its going to need some work.

Couple months ago i bought a new boat. A few days ago it arrived. I work in tourism so i thought it would be a good addition to my business.
Last year i bought a smaller boat, a 4 meter rib that could fit 4 and i can say that almost 70% of my guests opted for my short tour of the blue lagoon i take them on.

Krknjaši, blue lagoon, Veli Drvenik island

The rib only had a 15HP motor so it went pretty slow when it was packed with people. It could really only reach the 3-4 islands in the vicinity. (Croatia has 1246 islands in total) .

We even have a heart shaped one. :)

The boat i got now is a 8 meter Falcon SPC 23 with a 250 HP Volvo penta motor (cap. 8 people). I got it pretty cheaply. The motor is in great condition with low work hours since it wasnt used much. The first owner was some actor from UK that didnt really use it except once a year for a couple days.

The boat was out of commission for almost 2 years so its going to need some work.

Going to have to sand and repaint the wood, remove the panels and paint them as well.

Do some cleaning and put the cushions back in. I already took down all the wooden panels and the door, will see what else needs to go off.

The kichen is a bit old school looking so ill see what i can do there as well.

The living room area where the table and sitting area is (that turns into a bed) will need some refurbishing. The carpets lifted off the floor so ill have to buy some new ones. Nothing fancy, just to serve the purpose.

Already took the wooden parts down. From the sitting area on the left and right, from the shower area (The shower head is missing so ill have to figure that out as well), where the metal part is goes a wooden plank where you can connect a smaller secondary motor.
The motor is out as well and you usually put it back in before you plunk the boat in the water.

Its also going to need a thorough polish from the outside and im thinking of painting the whole bottom part to just above the dolphin, blue. Take all the stripes down and the dolphin. It looks cheesy.

Ill see ya. Hive on. ;)

Enjoy the work! The boat will shine soon. Woodwork is the best part ;)

:) Yeah, the wood is really what make it pop

The wood panels might need a coat or two of new varnish. Or if the surfaces are damaged, you might want to consider painting them. While the interior does not look very appealing now, I'm pretty sure you can make it look much better if you put in the hours. Now is the time to do it because the corona epidemic is keeping the tourists away for the time being.

I've visited the island of Krk but where you are is much further to the south.

I was thinking either varnish or sadolin + some specialist paint. Will see, need to look into it more.

Yeah Krk is about 200km from where i am. I never actually visited. Might do it this summer.

Wow, I thought doing a bit of painting in my warehouse was a challenge - this takes business enhancement to a whole new level! It's going to look great when you are done though, I like the idea of painting blue below the water line and de-striping - will look very smart indeed. So much work though, do you have any idea how long it will take - and are you doing it all on your own?

Not sure. Maybe 5-10 work days. This is the first time im working on a boat. The surface stuff isnt hard but theres a bunch of cables to check, water, electricity, etc. Those are a mystery. :)

Reminds me of my brother's boat. He got his 9meter cruiser in pretty good shape with a blown motor (due to maintenance issues). He and his best friend spent a winter changing the motor and refreshing the drive. His wife was large and in charge of cleaning and polishing so that today they have a vessel that they are proud of and is a lot of fun for them.

He is just now bringing it out of winter storage. He figures it is just as good to shelter in place on the boat as in their house... They have plans for a couple of trips on the Columbia River (where they live).

A big project, but a very worthwhile effort with a huge upside. Good luck to you!

Thx for sharing. :)

How about a time-lapse of the progress? 😏

Sure, ill try to have that done. :)

It would make business sense to try and offset the cost of the renovation that way.

It looks decent, a little touch if rejuvenation and you're good to to good. How much did you get it?

It was for a good price. 🙂

Great, do have your jolly ride 🙂🙂🙂

Come to visit in Pelješac :)

To ćemo prvo autom kad most bude dovršen. ;)

Deal :)

Hey!, you have some work to do there , but, anyway, it is an interesting project to work on!
You are a lucky guy!

If the coronavirus persists my tourist season could go badly. That would not be lucky. Fingers crossed. :)

Don't tell me, I have all my travel plans to costa rica this summer on stand-by, with the flight tickets and hotels already paid :-(

Congrats! I've always wanted to build / refinish a boat. Have you ever read Sailing Alone Around the World by Joseph Slocumb? You should. True story.

Seems like a good thing to read on a boat. :)

I've always wanted to turn it into a film. It is public domain after all.

VERY NICE!
I have a little powerboat... under 6 meters.
Had it forever... trying to find a way to move up. Something closer to 9 or 10 meters. With cabin, head, tiny galley for a weekend away!

That fits the description of what i got here. These arent expensive and you could find a good deal if you get one that wasnt used much.

One question: Will it have racks for scuba tanks?

I could get those. I think they are portable, arent they?

i had no idea where you live and what you do :D when all this shit is gone, who knows, maybe i will visit. maybe i can even pay the ride with Hive :D

i was in Sutivan 5 years in a row when i was really really small. i don't remember a lot but i know that part of the shore is beautiful.

Well, you know where to find me if you decide to take a vacation in Cro. 😉

This make me jelly. I hope you hit an iceberg or something

lol. Adriatic full of icebergs.
