Must Watch Entrepreneurial K-Drama Itaewon Class

There are plenty movies or drama depicting the life of entrepreneur but only a few that truly catches my attention. Itaewon class manages to capture my attention due its character's ability to hold up to his life principle. He meant good for people yet stepped on, lied on by people in his life but he's still persistent with his principle to do good.

Itaewon class is a South Korean drama based on a webtoon series with the same title. It has 16 episodes narrating the story of Park Sae-ro-yi whose ordinary life becomes extraordinary after becoming a convict. After released from the prison, he follows his father's footsteps opening a bar called DanBam. The title is based on the location in the story where Saeroyi opens the bar in Itaewon, a place that's seemingly never sleeps.

Pretty much like any enterpreneurial type of movies, the story explores the rough beginning and the motives of the main character. What's special about this movie from other movies I watch is revenge used as motive. However, there are many good nuggets we can find in the drama including holding to your own principle and sticking to it.

Each of episodes is an hour long. I would say it's not bad for this type of movie. The plot is a bit unpredictable for first few episodes but can be easily guessed after episode 7. But don't worry by then you'll get addicted and wanting to know the aftermath of the conflicts and the resolution from the movie. I would rate this k-drama 3,5/5 for the almost real depiction of life as entrepreneur. Being entrepreneur is not easy as it looks as it is on social media. It takes persistence, patience and humility. Being an underdog doesn't mean you can't win. You will win in your own time. I think that's what Itaewon class tries to tell its viewers.
