Deck Diaries: Life Afloat on Our Crew Boat

in OCD2 years ago

Hey people, Maggotmilk here. 😊
I want to share with you guys about what we do on our crew boat.
You can expect to find information in this post about maintenance of the deck and engine equipment as well as nautical survey equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
This is a very different type of material from my typical blockchain gaming posts, but I plan to switch to it as of right now because I find it to be more enjoyable.

The team and I start washing the windows at the start of the shift at 6:00 a.m. with the main objective of removing salt buildup from the salty air and waves that occasionally wash over the glass.

I then proceed inside to tidy up the workspace, the seats, and the navigational equipment.

Additionally, the Chief Engineer and Oiler, who are in charge of the engine, clean the seachest strainer and the engine flooring.

They start the generator once that is done so that the ship would have electricity to run the lights, appliances, and navigational aids on board. And also the coffee machine. just kidding.😆

After that, we just wait a while for the Technician to come because our UPS is broken at the moment and we need it fixed. The UPS stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply, it provides automated backup electrical power when the main generator fails.. or so explained by the technician. hehe

Techy finally came, Sir Eme. 😁

Sir Eme removed the broken one and replaced it with the new one.

Now that our VTS has a new UPS, the marine traffic control can always know where we are even when the generator is off. for the sake of safety. 😃

That's all for now, I'll be sure to make a post again when I come across anything post worthy happening Haha! thank you for reading guys hehe 😊

It's very reassuring to see that so much care is taken to look after the boat. Is it for crew only or does it carry passengers as well?
