Snails that change sex due to a pollutant.
An example is TBT, tin tributyl, a compound that tends to accumulate in ports and estuaries and that has caused the extinction of some species of mollusks in areas of the North Sea or in French Occitania. A Coruña scientists have observed that, in certain species of marine snails, females transform into males due to this pollutant. In this line of research, the working group collaborates closely with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography.
