Flora, Fauna and HIVE moonage Bee-Fly porn.

in OCD4 years ago

Hey all

Sometimes when you are out shooting, you just know that you have nailed a good shot and can't wait to get it back onto the comp for processing. When this common blue butterfly landed and actually sat there for more than a few seconds I was absolutely stoked to get this first shot. I think it's one of my favourite butterfly shots ever, especially knowing how hard it is to get this species to pose for you.

And here follows a few nice flora shots, the first of which is the common garden dandelion.

A lovely hydrangea which is just starting to grow out gives this lovely abstract shot.

And a nice yellow and blue viola.

And finally, a bit of softcore bee-fly porn. Caught these two celebrating the massive price increase of HIVE over the last few days on my lawn.

Today has been a good day, been watching the price increase with interest. Yeah, it's probably going to dump hard at some point but there will no doubt be people who won't sell below their buy-in price which will hold the price quite high. Of course, the disadvantage of being fully powered up is that you can't sell any. I'm in for the long haul anyway, always have been.

Thanks for taking a look

Mark

Nice little bug!

I see I'm not the only one struggling with pictures not loading after the post is published...

Yeah, seems to be working for some and not for others.

Got the first 2 pics..
That butterfly photo is amazing!!!!!! The rest wouldn't load.

It's a strange issue with the image caching on hiveimages - the people responsible will be checking the problem with it shortly

For me, if i click on the broken link in peakd then they show up ok.

Hopefully. So you reckon I should load them anyway?? Or wait?

Try it, might work. Who knows!! :D

Final two captures really impressive for me. Brilliant effort.

You have a special handle, I'll give you that. Since it's far from a natural shot, it seems abstract to me. That's exactly what I like. I know the name of both the insects and the plants shown: The holly blue (Celastrina argiolus), dandelion, pansy and bee flies 😁

Thanks very much. I'm not sure what you mean by "special handle", it's normally only my wife that comments on that :D

I mean the dark look of your shots.

wow yeah the butterfly posed perfectly for a portrait! I really like the hydrangea shot - may try mutating that one, really love the shapes and depth in that picture

Mutate away matey, love seeeing the outputs of your deep dream stuff

hey Mark, Macro photos never were mine, but these one are great! especially nr. 3+4 because of the colors! Have a good one!

Your photos, err, your Bee-Fly porn is great! I really like the dark background on most of these shots. Very cool stuff. Just for the record, it wasn't until today that I learned that bee-flies even exist! And that butterfly really is cool. Congrats on the great shot!

Thanks for the comment. If you look a bit further back in my blog you will see that I got a shot of a bee-fly in flight. I don't know if it'd due to the lockdown, but this year in the UK there seem to be a lot more bee-flys than usual. They are intriguing insects.
