I'm so happy to hear that one of the known hivers in hive reached out to me in Discord. At least, it gives me hope that there will be a Ball future for the children and adults here in the small village of Cahayag which is my second home. I don't want to state spoilers because I'm always afraid of that kind of action. "You tell everyone about it but then it will not happen." That's why I will just wait for the good news and share it with everyone. For now, I will show you first the basketball court and its story.
There were 2 basketball rings in this small village but both of them were across the national road. Obviously, the flat or level road was being used by the people here to serve as their court even though it was not made from cement. Of course, when a vehicle passed by they stopped the game and waited. The basketball ring that I showed is the one that has been being shot with a ball for years already.
Fortunately or not, the national road was repaired and made into cement. The basketball court was closed and the basketball ring was being junked somewhere 5 km away from here. According to the teenagers, the basketball ring was then revived in the year of 2019. With the help of basketball lovers, they attached the ring into the frame of the board. Of course, they were the ones who bought a ½ size of plywood in making a board. It was just a year but because it was made of plywood, it could not withstand the rain during the rainy season. As you can see, the board was only a small piece of the portion of the plywood that was attached.
They only have a single basketball ring because the other one was junk at the side of the road. Let the grass grow with it and then it gets rusty since the ball wasn't being shot here. It's shameful to see a community who loves this kind of game but the government officials can't support them. I just talked to the SK Chairman or an official who is in charge of the youth about it. She said she'd talk to the Captain of the small village about this matter. Of course, she was happy to hear but I don't know why she couldn't do anything about it.
Once again, I hope the amazing community of Hive will support this project and let the people be inspired by it.
