In Front of the Beautiful View of the Ocean is the Ugly Reality

in Amazing Nature3 years ago (edited)
We are always excited in seeing beautiful things in our surroundings. But it is also upsetting to know that beyond the beauty that our mother nature has given us, there is a sad reality behind it.

The beautiful view of the ocean

A few days ago, we were able to visit one of our favorite spots, the clubhouse where we stayed. It was ten in the morning and since it is summer in the Philippines, the sun was expected to be that hot and shiny. It was a good thing that the place was located in front of the ocean so the sea breeze served as our coolant from the striking rays from the sun. A magnificent view of the ocean has always been my favorite since I was a kid. So if given a chance to spend time nearby, I would be so grateful to grab it because there is always a positive vibe in it.

The clubhouse has a big area. And since it was still morning, we did not see a bigger crowd yet. But, we wanted to visit the shore. So we headed to the part where we can exit from the clubhouse and proceeded to the seafront. The area going down to the ocean from the clubhouse was well maintained. The grass was properly trimmed, there were no traces of garbage. We even found a goat, happily eating fresh plants in the middle of the day. There was also a hut nearby. And, we found an Indian-Almond tree where its fruits scattered on the ground. We stayed under the shade of the tree for a couple of minutes since it was just a few meters away from the shore.

While staying under the shade of the tree, we prepared our drone and camera for our morning shoot. Photowalk has always been one of my favorites also, especially at the beach. Have you wondered why we decided to go out at this very middle part of the day where the sun was high in the sky? Well, we just wanted to do it. And while we were so busy preparing our gears, we noticed a few people passed by on the shore, since there was an area nearby where people go for a swim. The tide was high, so we can hear the waves clearly from where we were sitting. The sky was clear, where its bluish color mirrored in the ocean. The clouds were perfectly white, where you can truly feel that it is summer in the Philippines. If we only brought an acoustic guitar or ukelele with us, we would definitely enjoy the vibe while playing any songs of Jack Johnson.

After preparing our gears, we started to take our foot at the side of the shore. We were just so excited because we haven't done it for quite a while now. The sound from the waves splashing in and out made the ambiance favorable for walking even the rays of the sun were so striking. I forgot that I was wearing my favorite sneakers, so I couldn't let my feet stepped on the water. The shoreline was quite long, and there were only a few people who passed by in this area, so it was like we could enjoy it more privately. Also, we were excited to search for driftwoods since we know that we could find a lot of them here. We just need to be patient in looking for the good one.

The long shoreline

Upon taking a few steps from where we started, I was upset about what we found out. The excitement that we felt earlier was replaced with disappointment, garbage was everywhere on the shore. It was not our first time visiting this area and we knew that coastal cleanup was always done here. But the reality sinks in that for those activities that were done in cleaning this shoreline, taking all that garbage out, and dispose of it properly, we could still see a lot of them here. So it means that these are new batches of trash already. And the thought of it made our hearts cry. In front of the beautiful view of the ocean is the ugly reality.

The first spot we saw with garbage

We continued to walk while embracing the disappointments that we felt at that time. From the point where we started walking until we reached quite a distance, garbage was everywhere. We even made a joke if who could see a clean spot first would get a reward. But honestly, it was like a train of garbage that was dumped in there and most of them were non-biodegradable. I couldn't imagine myself throwing stuff like these anywhere, and not in the proper waste disposal. My heart goes to the creatures under the sea where they are one of the most affected by this. I even saw a lot of plastic straw. And the memory of a Sea Turtle that was a victim of this gave me teary-eyed.

We kept on walking and observed the things that we saw on the shoreline. We even passed by this branch of a tree full of non-biodegradable stuff being stuck in it. I couldn't imagine if where this garbage came from. All I know is that we are part of a very progressive city, not to mention the other cities and municipalities nearby. The thought of those plastics used in the different establishment like supermarkets, fast foods, and others. And they are being brought to different people on the road or in the households. And they are being brought to different people on the road or in the households. How many of those people take their responsibility of being good abiding citizens in the community by disposing of their garbage properly? Seeing this trash everywhere here on the shore makes me feel sick in the reality that many of them are not doing it properly. If I'm not mistaken, the government always emphasizes the importance of proper waste and garbage disposal.

We decided to end our photo walked and driftwood searched with a heavy heart. I just couldn't believe what I saw. Yes, that garbage will be taken away, for sure. The shoreline will be tidy again. But, for how long? The reality that there will another batch of waste that will be stuck in there is undeniable. We had witnessed it, we saw it with our own eyes. Not to mention that other places might also like this, having the same problem with the trash. The beautiful expectations that we had upon heading to the shoreline disappeared. And all that was left was the feeling of disappointment.

We are all aware that this is one of the world's greatest nightmares, the waste or garbage that we, people, are creating. And the worst about it, on the millions of population who are alive, all of us contributed to this. Yes, many of us are concerned about this, doing our part to help in resolving the problem by starting a good practice in proper waste disposal in our home or anywhere we go. But there are also a lot of us who don't care at all, and the scenery that we saw on the shoreline is the reality about that. Our mother nature is giving us the beauty that all of us are enjoying for a lifetime. I just hope that we should be responsible enough to take good care of her. One of the things that we can offer is being mindful of our surroundings and help in the advocacy of proper waste or garbage disposal.

Our nature is full of amazing stuff to discover.
So let us preserve the beauty of it and avoid placing any traces of waste.
