hugging an old tree

Hello friends, its Tuesday today -- a tree day, so I post a few pics for #treetuesday by @old-guy-photos

This giant poplar we met near the Martian Field (a favorite leizure walking location for the city residents; the city of St.Petersburg, ofc). Poplars grow quickly and become tall and huge, so I won’t be fooled, I’m sure that this tree is not 300 years old. Most likely it did not survive the WW2 war, so it might be no more than 70 years old). But nonetheless. looks impressive, doesn't it?

это тополь, который встретился нам недалеко от Марсова поля (излюбленное место для прогулок жителей города). Тополя растут быстро и становятся высокими, так что я не дам себя обмануть, я уверен что этому дереву не 300 лет (скорее всего оно не пережило WW2 войну, то есть ему не больше 70 лет). Но тем не менее. выглядит внушительно, не правда ли?

thank you! I have added some X-processing to improve the color. by the way, I had no DSLR camera with me, it was shot with something plain and simple :P

That's one massive tree !!.. It would at least need 5 people to fully surround it ^^.. Rare sight nowadays

I just read today in @fotostef blog there are a few olives on Cretu that are 3000 years old - i cant imagine that, really... blessted place might be..
