Wild Mangosteen - Indonesian Fruit

in OCD4 years ago

hello friends of the Hive community...

How are you my friends...
I hope everything is good....

I will introduce you to a fruit called wild mangosteen. In our area, we call it 'Kecapi', 'sentul' or 'ketuat'. The 'Sentul' tree is a lush and large tree, which can reach 30 m in height, although generally in the yard it only reaches around 20 meters. Stems can reach a diameter of 90 cm, gummy like milk.

The fruit is rather flattened round, 5-6 cm, yellow or reddish when ripe, downy. The flesh of the outer fruit is thick and hard, blends with the skin, reddish, slightly sour, the flesh of the inner fruit is soft and runny, attached to the seeds, white, sour until sweet. Seeds 2-5 grains, large, slightly flat ovoid, reddish brown shiny, red seed pieces.

The harp is thought to originate from Indochina and the Malay Peninsula. Centuries ago, these plants were brought to India, Indonesia (Borneo, Maluku, Tapanuli), Mauritius, and the Philippines, where these fruit crops became popular, widely planted and naturalized.

This tree was planted mainly because of its expected fruit, which tastes sweet or somewhat sour. Thick fleshy fruit skin is often eaten fresh or cooked first, made into sweets.
