Yesterday I finally created my account in Altvr to participate in Hivefest20. It will be my first one.
I will be using the 2D version as I don't plan to purchase a headset. I've tried them in the past and they get me dizzy after a while. I wanted to try the 2D experience to decide if it was worth attending and all in all I have to admit it was quite reasonable.
You can register for free on Hivefest website where you can donate some hives if you wish to while registering. There is also a proposal going on to fund the fest and give your support you can find all the details in this post including the links to vote.
Once you register on Hivefest you need to reach AltspaceVR website and sign up to create your account and download the desktop App (only Windows and macOS). I encourage you to customize your avatar, learn how to navigate, take a selfie, play around and visit some of the existing areas to familiarize yourself with the space, it is not hard but it takes a little time to figure out. You may also take a look at @themarkymark post as he is collecting the hive users creating accounts and notifying him so you will be able to add them as friends inside Altvr.
Remember, previous testing is the best way to have a great experience when the event takes place. Here's some of the confirmed speakers so far.
