Here's How I Am Organizing My Hive Experience

in OCD5 years ago (edited)

Dear Hivers,

As an author, I have taken up the challenge to write valuable content for the next 30 days:

That means:

  • I need to be disciplined
  • I need to be organized

If I was ever a motivational speaker? I will say both are closely related. To be disciplined, one has to be organised.

And what should you do to be organized?

Use the RIGHT tools!

All my life, I have seen how right tools can change our lives. Not only does it help us create clarity in our goals but also organizes our lives.

In the past, I have used several tools to organise my work. From simple to-do like ToDoist to task management tool like Trello, I have even tried the Milk, Wunderlist, and Google Keep.

But there is one tool that takes the cake — and smashes the charts. It is WorkFlowy.

And I personally love WorkFlowy.

(Why you will see in a moment)

In the last two years, I have converted hundreds of pages of books into short notes through WorkFlowy. What makes this tool brilliant are really three things:

  • It is FREE.
  • A list within a list
  • Ability to expand and collapse this list

There’s no magic. Think of notepad but a better version.

This is how WorkFlowy looks like!

Say I found a book. I create a new "Notes" (list) and add the book title (a sublist).

Here’s how it looks:

Under this sublist, I have another sublist – with each chapter:

Essentially, we are creating notes within the bulleted points. And these notes can be expanded and collapsed.

This way?

I have condensed several books and courses:

The benefits are endless:

For example:

This is not just limited to books. I have something called "2020 mantra" where I down my thoughts based on my experiences:

The best part? With time, the main list continues to grow. I have hundreds of such main lists:

To be an active member of Hive, I created a new Hive list:

As you can see, I am writing this purely from the publishing point of view.

First, we have Topics:

These are topics I keep an eye on. And if something new hits me? I wrote down the topic under any of the sublist.

Then I move them to "Current" so I know what to write next (and not get stuck thinking about my next topic).

Similarly, as we go back, I have other sublists like Read, Follow, and Progress.

The idea is to be flexible because any tool should make our lives easier – and not difficult.

And there are no rules on how to use WorkFlowy.

You are free to do anything.

Because this tool is simple (with less distraction) and can be used for a variety of things (and even for Hive), I definitely recommend everyone to try it out.

Cheers,
Sid

@Looftee asked: How does WorkFlowy make money?

Like any other software tool, WorkFlowy comes with a limit. You can, however, increase this limit by paying – or joining under a referral link (where you get additional 250 items).

Feel free to use this link to join WorkFlowy.
