I learned that there is a wet and dry way of felting, but in my opinion, dry is much easier, and toys are made much faster.
For felting, craftswomen use unspun wool and special needles (felting needles), which are not a problem to find today. A little training with a master and you will definitely get something unusual, made with your own hands.

I took some lessons in needle felting some years ago and had a lot of fun. Though these needles are very pointy and I managed to hit my fingers several times ;)
