Hola, soy Elbaneliz Mudarra. Nací en la ciudad de Cumaná, estado Sucre - Venezuela un domingo 7 de enero de 1990, bajo ciertas circunstancias de la que seguro les comentaré luego. Soy Licenciada en educación Mención Castellano y Literatura, amante de las librerías, cantante coral (soprano) e instructora de canto para niños. Estoy súper contenta y animada de formar parte de Hive. Acá les compartiré parte de mí vida, de mis gustos y motivaciones.

It turns out that writing a presentation about your own life has been an almost out-of-body experience. You feel a kind of unfolding when reviewing each aspect of your life and you find in them small special details that have shaped you and that are an essential part of your character.
Resulta que escribir una presentación sobre tu propia vida ha sido una experiencia casi extra corporal. Sientes una especie de desdoblamiento al revisar cada aspecto de tu vida y encuentras en ellos pequeños detalles especiales que te han forjado y que son parte esencial de tu carácter.
I will start by telling you about my name, the one that has been spelled or pronounced in the funniest and weirdest ways. My mother found it original to mix three names (which cookie recipe) to make, that of her first-born and only daughter, different and with special meaning for the family. Elba was the name of my maternal grandmother, Nelly hers and Elizabeth the name of her older sister: ELBANELIZ. Creative, right? At this point I will give him a vote in favor, as he saved me from a redundant Queen Empress towards whom my paternal family leaned. Even a Raynelly who was a mix of Ramón (my father) and Nelly. In short, the subject of names can be very stressful for some new parents. In any case, it was not so bad.
Empezaré por contarles sobre mi nombre, el que se ha escrito o pronunciado de las más divertidas y extrañas maneras. A mi madre le pareció original mezclar tres nombres (cual receta de galletas) para hacer, el de su primogénita y única hija, diferente y con significado especial para la familia. Elba era el nombre de mi abuela materna, Nelly el suyo y Elizabeth el nombre de su hermana mayor: ELBANELIZ. Creativa, ¿no? En este punto le daré un voto a favor, pues me salvó de un redundante Reina Emperatriz por el que se inclinaba mi familia paterna. Incluso de un Raynelly que era la mezcla de Ramón (mi padre) y Nelly. En fin, el tema de los nombres puede llegar a ser muy estresante para algunos padres primerizos. En todo caso, no le quedó ni tan mal.

When I was four years old, my recently started life took an unexpected turn with the separation of my parents, as my maternal grandfather, together with his wife who was not my grandmother, assumed responsibility for my upbringing for the next seven years while my mother worked to pay your daughter’s bills and needs. To them I owe the excellent quality of my first years of education and much of my respectful and measured personality.
Cuando tenía cuatro añitos mi recién iniciada vida tomó un giro inesperado con la separación de mis padres, pues mi abuelo materno junto a su esposa que no era mi abuela, asumió la responsabilidad de mi crianza durante los próximos siete años mientras mi mamá trabajaba para pagar las cuentas y las necesidades de su hija. A ellos les debo la excelente calidad de mis primeros años de educación y gran parte de mi personalidad respetuosa y comedida.
At that school stage I found by chance what would be one of the greatest passions of my life: choral singing. When the new music teacher (my musical father Basilio Marval) arrived at the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho school, he worked laboriously with an interesting project for the moment and of which I was happily a part. The school choir rehearsed for years every afternoon in an intimate corner under the expectant gaze of the others. The music teacher thought I had a beautiful voice and with his hand I participated as a soloist in various festivals in my city. It should be noted that I did not win any. I think I always felt more comfortable in the warmth of the voices of the choir, the festivals with the choir were my favorites without a doubt.
En esa etapa escolar encontré de manera fortuita la que sería una de las más grandes pasiones de mi vida: el canto coral. Cuando el nuevo profesor de música (mi padre musical Basilio Marval) llegó al colegio Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, trabajó laboriosamente con un proyecto interesante para el momento y del que yo formaba parte felizmente. La coral de la escuela ensayó durante años cada tarde en un rinconcito íntimo bajo la mirada expectante de los otros. El maestro de música pensaba que tenía una linda voz y de su mano participé como solista en varios festivales de mi ciudad. Cabe destacar que no gané ninguno. Creo que siempre me sentí más cómoda en la tibiez de las voces del coro, los festivales con la coral eran mis favoritos sin duda.
With the arrival of high school the changes are at the mercy of the day and I postponed my musical hobbies for others a bit more "uninhibited", I ventured as a model and at the age of thirteen I was already representing my Sucre state in an incredible contest called Teem Model Venezuela where for the first time I met people from all over the country and where I had unforgettable and magical experiences. Shortly after I returned to my usual life And thus, between festivals and reigns, my adolescence passed.
Con la llegada de la secundaria los cambios están a merced del día y aplacé mis hobbies musicales por otros un tanto más "desinhibidos”, incursionaba como modelo y a mis trece años ya estaba representando a mi estado Sucre en un certamen increíble llamado Teem Model Venezuela donde por primera vez conocía gente de todo el país y donde viví experiencias inolvidables y mágicas. Las sesiones fotográficas, hoteles, peluquerías, famosos, pasarela, viajes, junto con las responsabilidades académicas, eran mucho para una niña de trece años. Poco tiempo después volví a mi vida habitual. Y así, entre festivales y reinados, transcurrió mi adolescencia.
There is much to tell about my university life. I started studying Physics at the Universidad de Oriente, but I soon knew that it would be a career where I was not going to have happy moments. After seeing my options and possible strengths, I opted for a radical change: Spanish and Literature. Here yes, this was my thing; grammar, syntax, literature… I loved and enjoyed my career very much, I feel that it was one of the best decisions I have made.
De mi vida universitaria hay mucho que contar. Inicié estudiando Física en la Universidad de Oriente, pero prontamente supe que sería una carrera donde no iba a tener momentos felices. Luego de ver mis opciones y posibles fortalezas, opté por un cambio radical: Castellano y Literatura. Aquí sí, esto era lo mío; la gramática, la sintaxis, la literatura… Amé y disfruté muchísimo mi carrera, siento que fue una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado.
One ordinary day hanging around the university I came across a curious and striking sound coming from the auditorium. It was a graduation ceremony. My eyes, my ears and my heart immediately vibrated when I discovered that the university had a gigantic coral, at that time I did not know what a choir was. I waited for the activity to end, I cautiously followed some of the members as a spy to their rehearsal room. Without further ado, I stopped by and asked if I could audition. The rest was history. From that same day and for the next eight years I was part of the Antonio José de Sucre University Choir as a soprano. This stage of my life is worthy of another post because of the special place it occupies and how important it would be for my near future. To sum up, great friends were born from there, extraordinary experiences, laughter, tears, love, I even met the one who would be the father of my two beautiful children.
Un día corriente merodeando la universidad me topé con un sonido curioso y llamativo que provenía del auditorio. Era un acto de graduación. Mis ojos, mis oídos y mi corazón vibraron enseguida cuando descubrí que la universidad tenía una coral gigantesca, para ese entonces no sabía lo que era un orfeón. Esperé que terminara la actividad, seguí cautelosamente cual espía a algunos integrantes hasta su salón de ensayo. Sin más ni más pasé y pregunté si podía hacer una audición. Lo demás fue historia. Desde ese mismo día y por los siguientes ocho años formé parte del Orfeón Universitario Antonio José de Sucre como soprano. Esta etapa de mi vida es digna de otro post por el lugar especial que ocupa y lo importante que sería para mi futuro cercano. Para resumir, de allí nacieron grandes amigos, experiencias extraordinarias, risas, llantos, el amor, incluso conocí al que sería el padre de mis dos hermosos hijos.
Of them (my little and perfect family) I can tell you that they are my north and my support. The story with my husband is a novel romance, a love at first sight. Who could have imagined that two loving glances would coincide from the moment I opened the door to the rehearsal room when I auditioned. My daughter is already 6 years old, and since she was born, her passion for dance has pleasantly surprised us all. She wants to be a dancer and I am pleased to see her initiate what has been a dream for her and witness her joys in each performance with her ballet group. I can tell about my 4-year-old son that he is the sweetest and most restless thing I have. He is also clear about what he wants to do, he wants to be a drummer, he likes rock and says he is a rocker. There is no doubt that he has musical influences from his dad.
De ellos (mi pequeña y perfecta familia) puedo decirles que son mi norte y mi soporte. La historia con mi esposo es un romance de novela, un amor a primera vista. Quién podía imaginar que iban a coincidir dos miradas enamoradas desde el mismo momento en que abrí la puerta del salón de ensayo cuando hice mi audición. Mi hija ya tiene 6 añitos, y desde qué nació, su pasión por el baile nos ha sorprendido gratamente a todos. Ella quiere ser bailarina y me complace verla iniciar lo que para ella ha sido un sueño y presenciar sus alegrías en cada presentación con su grupo de ballet. De mi hijo de 4 años puedo contar que es lo más dulce y lo más inquieto que tengo. Él también tiene claro lo que quiere hacer, quiere ser baterista, le gusta el rock y dice que es rockero. No hay duda que tiene influencias musicales de su papá.

Later I participated in some choirs in the city contributing a grain of sand to the musical culture. I worked for several years as a Spanish and literature teacher, but as my life had never been routine and ordinary, the opportunity came again to give it a substantial turn. They offer me to be part of the National System of Children and Youth Choirs and Symphony Orchestras of Venezuela as a singing instructor. It was my dream job for four years. I learned a lot, had exceptional companions, and loved to musically train children of all ages. I did it with all my love, respect and commitment.
Más tarde participé de algunos coros de la ciudad aportando un granito de arena a la cultura musical. Trabajé varios años como docente de Castellano y literatura, pero como mi vida nunca había sido rutinaria y corriente, llegó nuevamente la oportunidad de darle un giro sustancial. Me ofrecen formar parte del Sistema Nacional de Coros y Orquestas Sinfónicas infantiles y juveniles de Venezuela como instructora de canto. Fue el empleo soñado para mí durante cuatro años. Aprendí muchísimo, tuve compañeros excepcionales y amaba formar musicalmente a niños de todas las edades. Lo hice con todo mi amor, respeto y compromiso.

I left Venezuela in 2018 for Bogotá, where I currently reside, leaving behind my job, my family, my friends, my home, my dreams and projects. I still have the hope of returning soon. Now that I’m here at hive, I love the idea of participating and sharing with you my texts, my anecdotes, my poetry, my recipes (the kind I have to pamper my family), contribute my literary criticisms, my musical tastes and I can even that encourages me to sing the odd little cover. It will be fun.
Salí de Venezuela en 2018 rumbo a Bogotá, donde resido actualmente, dejando atrás, mi empleo, mi familia, mis amigos, mi hogar, mis sueños y proyectos. Aún mantengo intacta la esperanza de regresar pronto. Ahora que estoy acá en hive me encanta la idea de participar y compartir con ustedes mis textos, mis anécdotas, mi poesía, mis recetas (de esas que tengo para consentir a mi familia), aportar mis críticas literarias, mis gustos musicales y hasta puede que me anime a cantar uno que otro covercito. Será divertido.
