Firstly we have to be realistic about our follower counts. We have thousands, but that equates to maybe dozens of active people these days. The Hive community is only a few thousand in total and so your actual audience may be small. Most of the votes I get are automated, but I would prefer people to at least have a look at what I post.
I appreciate video can take a lot of work and the rewards may not justify that. The whales seem to have their favourite stuff to vote on and some of us cannot expect to get their votes. I do okay, but I don't take it for granted.
I mostly vote manually, but I can only look at so many posts each day.
We have the chicken/egg issue of creators needing an audience and the masses wanting to see the content they like. We need both sides. It needs a few pioneers to take a chance and try to bring their audience from other platforms to Hive. It is just frustrating that this has not happened too much in the last four years.
I have done what I can to bring in people, but I have limited reach. I will help out where I can.
If people don't want to hear what you say then they are ignoring the issues that hold Hive back.
I totally get what You mean and all the points You make. But if the big powers just keep pushing up and motivating the creation of content related with HIVE and crypto, that I am not saying it isn't important, butbif that's all they support we will never have any masses joining in. Let's not go even further... all the people that will come in will just get in that cycle and all we will have is a continuos number of people coming in and leaving when they see there is not much more about the HIVE than the HIVE itself! And only a handful of people will ever be able to grow and actually profit and influence the community and platform.
I've heard others make the same point, e.g. @arseniclullaby. Regular people want to be entertained. I will post on a range of topics that interest me, but that will sometimes be about Hive too and those posts do tend to get the most engagement as that's what we all have in common.
With my own votes I tend to vote on posts that need the rewards. Anything with $20 doesn't need my support. I am supporting a load of small accounts via @tenkminnows, but that is a drop in the ocean.
I really don't have the answers to the problems, even after 4 years, but the community is still fun for me. I'm not doing it purely for the money.
you do a great job support other content creators that are not exclusively doing hive content. But as i said I feel that shift and change need to come from the top people. I clearly don't do it for money. Otherwise i would have left long long ago. The frustration comes from the fact that I have been waiting for some shift some changes and that doesn't happen. The cycle keeps repeating. And then this higher powers keep promoting the hive blockchain as a space for content creators, a place where blockchain is being used to create web 3.0 and the new era of social media platform. And i start getting to a point whereb I really dont see that.
I think we should be calling them out on this. If they decide to downvote us then so be it.
I think so as well. But people really need this extra to help them with their lifes. And then we get in an environment where the censorship is not direct like in centralised social media but the censorship is inspired by the fear of the whales :/
Well some people need the money. I know some really struggle to afford even a basic computer. Some of the whales enjoy the control they have over people, but others are more reasonable. I have met a few of them and they do care. They have to be careful how they use their votes.
I would love to see that more reasonable ones pushing other type of content other than hive related into the hot and trending section. So the feeds actually look more diverse and entertaining, because that's why people get only...to be entertained and kill time!
