My first write up on Science

Science and it's importance.

Good evening guys, like I said in my Introduction am interested in science and technology, so this will be my first write up on science.

I know it's not a new topic, I mean we all experience the effects of science and technology, day in day out, from our
personal life to societal life, to be precise in every aspect of our life, we experience the effect of science.

What Science is.

  Science can be defined as the systematic or procedural ( you can say) study of the physical structure of nature.

It involves observation, experimentation and theory. To explain further I'd like to give the procedural outline of the term Science. It has a hierarchy of procedures, or steps. Let me start by stating them gradually;

The Scientific methods

  1. Observation: this involves the active collection of data after series of direct engagement with the object of study. Observation has no time limit, it stretches till the time the scientist must have been done with his acquisition of information on the object of study.

  2. Question: After the scientist must have observed the object of study over a certain period of time, certain questions such as: how the object of study came to existence, how it is the way it is, and so many other questions that might come up as a result of his observation. This will now take us to the next step .

  3. Hypothesis: After the scientist must have generated questions, how now organizes a hypothesis. A hypothesis refers to a tentative statement that predicts the relationship between variables, based on observation and existing knowledge. It is not simply an opinion.

  4. Experiment: Now the scientist must have been done with his hypothesis, he now plans and carry out an experiment. An experiment is a formal scientific test carried out to explain a hypothesis, discover new principles or demonstrate a known one.

  5. Test Hypothesis: Now the scientist must have been done with the experiment. It involves gathering data, analyzing the results to see if they refute or support the hypothesis. It is one of the most important scientific methods.

  6. Draw conclusions: After testing the hypothesis, the scientist now analyzes his data, compares his results to the hypothesis, explains his findings and also points out his limitations then he suggests further research.

  7. Report: this is the last step of the scientific methods, here the scientist now shares his results from his observation to the questions he asked his hypothesis, his experiment, down to the conclusion.

    Importance of science

Science has been very essential part of humans on earth, it has helped humans in solving problems, from health problems to transportation to educational, and in every other aspects of human life. In conclusion science is an ever growing means for humans to solve problems and expand knowledge about the physical world.
