Greetings friends of #Hive and the @amazignature community, I hope you have an excellent and blessed week. Today I share with you a beautiful tour of the Plaza Héroes de Cantaura. This plaza is located on Sucre Street, between the Santa Inés Church, the Culture Cabinet, and behind it, the Santa María de la Cabeza Castle. I have passed by this place on many occasions, and on my last visit a few days ago, I realized that it wasn't a garden as I had assumed. Upon reading the inscription on the fence, I couldn't believe it was a plaza.
While chatting with one of the gardeners, I noticed the plaque and asked him what it was about. He explained that it's a tribute to the Heroes of Cantaura (a group of people who perished in this town in Anzoátegui state). The plaza has a concrete walkway divided into three gardens, in which there are several lily plants; in fact, they are the most abundant plant in the place. They are located along the edges of the walkways and the front wall. To enter, you take the walkway from the bottom of the exterior stairs of the Santa Inés Church. The concrete walkway leads to the entrance of the Cultural Center. On both sides of this walkway are the gardens: one towards the Santa María de la Cabeza Castle, which is the smallest, and the larger one at the front, which is divided into two areas, in the larger area, several plants of the Spider Lily Hymenocallis littoralis can be observed, forming a roundabout with a rock in the center. Very close to this rock is the inscription for the plaza.
Saludos amigos de #Hive y comunidad @amazignature, espero que tengan una excelente y bendecida semana, hoy les comparto un hermoso recorrido por la plaza Héroes de Cantaura, esta plaza se ubica en la calle Sucre, entre la iglesia Santa Inés, el Gabinete de cultura y en la parte posterior el castillo Santa María de la Cabeza, he pasado por este lugar en muchas oportunidades y en mi última visita hace pocos días, me di cuenta que no era un jardín como suponía, al leer la inscripción en la valla, no podía creer que se trataba de una plaza.
Mientras conversaba con uno de los jardineros me di cuenta de la placa y le pregunté de qué se trataba, me explicó que es un tributo a los Héroes de cantaura (un grupo de personas que perecieron en esta población del estado Anzoátegui), la plaza tiene una caminería de concreto está dividida dividida en tres jardines, en los cuales se encuentran varias plantas de Lirio, de hecho es la que más abunda en el lugar, está ubicada por los bordes de las caminerias y el muro frontal; para ingresar se toma el la caminería desde la parte baja de las escaleras exteriores de la iglesia Santa Inés, el pasillo es de concreto y conduce hasta la entrada del Gabinete de cultura, a ambos lados de este pasillo se encuentran los jardines: Uno hacia el castillo Santa María de la cabeza, es el más pequeño y el más grande está en la parte frontal, este se divide en dos áreas, en la más amplia se observan varias plantas de Lirio Araña Hymenocallis littoralis, que forman una redoma, la cual tiene una roca en el centro, muy cerca de esta roca está la inscripción de la plaza.
Besides the lily, there are several Uva pesga Syzygium cumini plants. The tree is tall with abundant branches and the fruit is a deep purple color. There are several specimens of these in the garden. According to the friendly gardener, this fruit is used to prepare wines and juice. At his house, it is used to prepare a delicious wine specifically at Christmas, which they share with their family. His father has the secret recipe; it is a tradition that has been in the family for years. Homemade wine is never missing from the Christmas dinner.
On the day of my visit, they were cleaning the plaza, and I saw some of these fruits on the ground. The flavor is somewhere between sweet and sour, and the pulp is purple. Although this plant bears fruit, it is also used as an ornamental tree in many gardens and plazas throughout the city. In one of the photographs, you can see the Pesgua grape trees in the plaza, located very close to the fence that marks the Plaza Héroes de Cantaura. In the next photograph, you can see a fruit on the grass, and in the following photograph, you can see several fruits on the ground. In the afternoon, this place is often visited by many families, and it is common to see children and adults picking the fruit to eat and enjoy its sour taste.
Además del Lirio, hay varias plantas de Uva pesga Syzygium cumini, el árbol es alto con abundantes ramas y el fruto es de color morado intenso, hay varios ejemplares de estos en el jardín, de acuerdo a la información del amable jardinero, esta fruta es usada para preparar vinos y jugo, en su casa es empleado para preparar un delicioso vino específicamente en Navidad que comparten en familia, su papá tiene la receta secreta, es una tradición que tiene años en la familia, en la cena navideña no falta el vino artesanal.
El día de mi visita estaban limpiando la plaza y pude ver algunas de estas frutas en el suelo, el sabor es entre agrio y dulce y la pulpa es de color morado, esta planta aunque es frutal también es utilizada como ornamento en muchos jardines y plazas de la ciudad, en una de la fotografías se pueden apreciar los árboles de Uva Pesgua que hay en la plaza, estos se ubican muy cerca de la valla que identifica a la plaza Héroes de Cantaura, en la siguiente fotografía apreciamos un fruto en la grama y en la fotografía a continuación se pueden observar varios frutos en el suelo, en horaS de la tarde este lugar suele ser visitado por numerosas familias y es común ver a los niños y adultos recoger frutas para comerlas y disfrutar su agrio sabor.

Visiting this square and learning its name was a lovely experience. Paying attention to the details on each walk provides excellent information and insight into the place. I still find it incredible that, having passed by this place many times, I hadn't noticed that it was a square, which, in addition to its lovely garden, boasts an excellent location, nestled between one of the city's most important architectural icons, the Santa Inés Church, and next to it, the Santa María de la Cabeza Castle, a fortress with a beautiful design inspired by Byzantine art, which was built during the colonial era.
Although it has been repaired several times, it retains part of its original design. Many of its walls and main structures were destroyed by the various earthquakes that have struck the city over the years. After finishing my tour, I thanked the gentleman for the excellent information provided about the plants and the plaza. Each visit to the city this month has been a great adventure and has allowed me to learn the names of the areas located in the historic center. As its name indicates, this area holds interesting stories and anecdotes about the colonial period of the first city founded on the mainland.
Para finalizar el recorrido por esta plaza me dirigí hacia el jardín posterior en él se ubican varias plantas ornamentales, como Bugambilias y un árbol de flores amarillas llamado Tipuana tipu, es frondoso y las flores hermosas, se puede ver en varios jardines y parques de la ciudad, visitar esta plaza y conocer su nombre fue una linda experiencia, prestar atención a los detalles en cada recorrido nos ofrece una excelente información y visión del lugar, aún me parece increíble que habiendo pasado muchas veces por este lugar no había notado que se trataba de una plaza, la cual además de su lindo jardín, cuenta con una excelente ubicación, entre uno de los iconos arquitectónicos más importantes de la ciudad como es la iglesia Santa Inés y al lado de ella el castillo Santa María de la Cabeza, una fortaleza con un hermoso diseño inspirado en el arte bizantino, que fue construida en la época de la colonia.
Aunque se ha reparado varias veces, conserva parte de su diseño, muchas de sus paredes y estructuras principales fueron destruidas por los diferentes terremotos que han azotado la ciudad a lo largo de los años, terminado mi recorrido agradecí al señor por la excelente por la información suministrada sobre las plantas y la plaza, cada visita a la ciudad durante este mes ha sido una gran aventura y que me ha permitido conocer los nombres de las áreas ubicadas en el casco histórico; tal como su nombre lo indica esta zona guarda interesantes historias y anécdotas sobre el período colonial de la primera ciudad fundada en Tierra firme.
