- Today I want to share with you this new adventure in nature in the Fontela area, located in Loures, where we will learn about its biodiversity. It is about a 20-minute drive from the capital of Portugal. Getting to this area is a bit complicated because you can only go by car or bus, and buses usually leave Lisbon every 30 minutes, with a travel time of 40 minutes.

- Hoy quiero compartirles esta nueva aventura en la naturaleza en la zona de Fontela, localizada en Loures, donde aprenderemos sobre su biodiversidad. Se encuentra a una distancia de más o menos 20 minutos en carro de la capital de Portugal. Acceder a esta zona es un poco complicado porque solo puedes ir en carro o bus y suele pasar cada 30 minutos saliendo de Lisboa con una duración de 40 minutos de viaje.
The bus will drop you off in front of the village of Casal do Chacoso, but then to access the caves, mountains, and other nature activities, you have to walk to the site. I liked the village so much that I even took several photos to share. This village lives off farming. We can see that there are many places where they farm and raise livestock; it is very common to see this in the mountains of Portugal.
Another thing I want to highlight is that there are two houses in the village that will surprise you: one belongs to a doctor who has his own practice at home, and it is very large. My brother and I even joked that we now know who the richest person in the village is, hahaha. In addition, it has the walls of an old castle that used to be in the village in the background, but unfortunately only part of its walls remain, which have been restored. The other observation is the art of ceramics. In the parks, we can see beautiful designs, and one person made some designs of the village with stone. Their garden is a recreation of the village, undoubtedly something very patriotic and artistic.

El bus te dejará frente al pueblo que es Casal do Chacoso, pero después para acceder a las cuevas, montañas y otras actividades de la naturaleza, tienes que acceder caminando hasta el lugar. Me gustó mucho el pueblo que incluso hice varias sesiones de fotos para compartirlas. Este pueblo vive de las siembras. Podemos observar que hay muchos lugares donde hacen siembras y ganadería; es algo muy común de observar en las montañas de Portugal.
Otra de las cosas que quiero destacar es que hay dos casas que te sorprenderán en el pueblo y son: la de un médico que tiene su propio consultorio en el hogar y es muy grande. Incluso junto con mi hermano hicimos chiste diciendo que ya sabemos quién es el rico del pueblo, hahaha. Además, tiene de fondo los muros de un antiguo castillo que estaba antes en el pueblo, pero lastimosamente solo quedaron una parte de sus muros que recuperaron. La otra observación es el arte de las cerámicas. En los parques podemos ver hermosos diseños y una persona hizo unos diseños del pueblo con piedra. Su jardín es una recreación del pueblo, sin duda algo muy patriota y artístico.
- We have reached our destination, the Fontela biodiversity center. It is a walking trail with a maximum length of 1 kilometer, and it is well marked. Along the way, there are informational signs explaining the species of plants and animals that grow in the area. According to the signs, in this place you can see the Portuguese oak, which has sap, moss, and flowers that serve other species. The signs also explain that this tree cannot be cut down due to its history and age. Unfortunately, the exact age of this tree is unknown, but it is certainly many years old. If you try to cut it down, you will receive a very large fine because this tree is protected by the biodiversity community. The area we are in is humid with moss, so there is a possibility that orchids grow in the area. I didn't manage to see any, but the chances are never zero.

- Llegamos a nuestro objetivo, que es el centro de biodiversidad de Fontela. Se trata de una ruta pedestre con una ruta máxima de 1 kilómetro, se encuentra bien señalizada. En todo el camino tienes letreros informativos que explican las especies de plantas y animales que crecen en la zona. Según los letreros en este lugar puedes observar el carvalho-portugués, que tiene una sabia, musgo, y flores que sirven para otras especies, también nos explica la señalización de árbol que es una forma de mostrar que este árbol no puede ser talado debido a su historia y antigüedad, lastimosamente no está determinado la antigüedad exacta de este árbol, pero con seguridad tiene muchos años, ya que sé intentar talarlo, tendrás una multa muy grande porque este árbol es protegido con la comunidad de biodiversidad. En la zona que nos encontramos es húmeda con musgo, entonces hay una posibilidad de que orquídeas crezcan en la zona. No logré ver ninguna, pero las posibilidades nunca son 0.
- We have this cave called Gruta do Tufo, but unfortunately we don't have any information about it. We can't determine whether it's an artificial or natural cave, but it's possible that it's artificial because there are some man-made caves near this area, although there are also other natural caves in Lousa that are connected to each other. I was also unable to explore it thoroughly because I didn't have a flashlight or appropriate clothing. I only managed to observe that there are bats and possibly mice as well, but when I return to this cave, I will be prepared to explore it.

- Tenemos esta cueva llamada Gruta do Tufo lastimosamente no tenemos ninguna información de la misma, no podemos determinar si se trata de una cueva artificial o natural, pero es posible que sea artificial porque cerca de esta zona hay unas hechas por la mano humana, pero también otras en Lousa son naturales que se conectan entre ellas. También no logré explorar profundamente porque no tenía linterna y ropa apropiada, solo logré observar que hay murciélagos y posiblemente ratones también, pero cuando vuelva a esta cueva iré preparada para explorarla.

Nature looks amazing. It's great that plant species that have defied history are being protected and that there are deterrent penalties to prevent harm. The cave also looks mysterious. 😀
