They are usually invisible and yet they are perceptible and definitely exist - emotions.
Art can make emotions visible, smellable, tastable and audible, I often have read. Artists such as Edvard Munch (The Scream) and Arnold Böcklin (Isle of the Dead) seem to have succeeded in doing this quite successfully.
So I tried my hand at doing it a few times too. Let me show you a result of such of my experiments.

Sie sind normalerweise Unsichtbar und dennoch sind sie sind spürbar und definitiv existent - Emotionen.
Kunst kann Emotionen sichtbar, riechbar, schmeckbar und hörbar machen, lese ich immer wieder. Künstler wie Edvard Munch (Der Schrei), Arnold Böcklin (Die Toteninsel), scheinen das jedenfalls recht erfolgreich geschafft zu haben.
Ein paar Male habe ich mich daher ebenfalls darin versucht. Ein Ergebnis solcher Versuche, möchte ich dir hiermit gern zeigen.

About my collage

When I've been walking alone in the forest alone for a longer time and haven't met a soul for many hours and then suddenly a random hiker approaches me from a distance, I usually have this strange feeling. A feeling of excitement and curiosity mixed with anticipation that is most intense when the mysterious other hiker is still far away. Until we are eye to eye and have exchanged the first word, it often is almost as if a mysterious, auspicious, magical being is approaching me.
“Who is the stranger...? Would he like to chat...? What interesting stories and news does he bring to me from his own paths...?” - Thoughts like these then spin around in my head.
My collage is aimed at symbolically illustrating such a situation like I experience it.
I made the picture in early spring 2024 as a small night-time project.

Über meine Collage

Wenn ich lange Zeit alleine im Wald unterwegs bin, seit vielen Stunden auf keine Menschenseele getroffen bin und dann plötzlich aus der Ferne ein fremder Wanderer auf mich zukommt, hab ich für gewöhnlich dieses merkwürdige Gefühl. Ein Gefühl aufgeregter, neugieriger Anspannung, gemischt mit Vorfreude, dass am Intensivsten ist, wenn der mysteriöse andere Wanderer noch weit weg ist. Bis wir auf Augenhöhe sind und das erste Wort gewechselt haben, ist es oft fast so, als käme ein mysteriöses, verheißungsvolles, magisches Wesen auf mich zu.
"Wer ist der Fremde..? Möchte er plaudern...? Welche interessanten Geschichten und Neuigkeiten bringt er von seinem eigenen Wegen zu mir mit..?" - Gedanken, wie sie dann in meinem Kopf kreisen.

Meine Collage soll eine derartige Situation, wie ich sie erlebe, symbolisch anschaulich machen.

Ich habe das Bild gegen Anfang Frühjahr 2024, als kleines Nachtprojekt gemacht.

Materials

These are the materials I have made use of to create my collage. Additionally to Photo Bashing, I also painted some details myself (shadows, lights, details...).
For the work on the collage I only used the open source image editor GIMP.

Materialien

Dies sind die Materialien die ich zum Erstellen meiner Collage verwendet habe. Zusätzlich zum Photobashing, habe ich auch Details selbst gemalt (Schatten, Lichter, Details ...).
Ich habe für die komplette Arbeit an der Collage, das open source Bildbearbeitungsprogramm GIMP verwendet.

What is LMAC?

LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage".
Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.

Are you a good photographer and would like to contribute some nice good quality photos in exchange for good votes and tribute?
We are currently building our own photo/image library that we can use as a image source for our collages, but also every Hiver beyond LMAC is very welcome to use the images in it.

This collage of yours is really conceptual @quantumg. I liked the psychological aspect of it.

The hidden identity of the two characters disturbs the calmesness of the sacred solitude. At the back of the head, thinking of what else could be more possible than to see another nature lover passing-by, but then the ideas twist to the sparking questions to clearify the unknown, hence the identity. All of a sudden the vision of cloudy night is brought to surface and appears a harsh and cold texture on the vision. Just after the first words spilled out, the mist rises back to the sky promising a safe return to the inner peace.

It certainly does evoke emotions, especially with your explanation. It's interesting if this happened to me, a woman walking alone on a trail:

My strange feeling would be apprehension. The peace symbol tells me, no need to worry. The one eye--like a third eye, and the match, the illumination of understanding.
