The verification of information that appears in traditional media, social networks, blockchain, the Internet and other digital media is currently essential.

However, it is social networks that are mostly manipulated for the dissemination of fake news and many of these in order to alarm the population or harm someone.
That is why clearly for those who are in search of methods or techniques that may provide some guidance to act on this situation, after exhausting the revision in the current literature, I stopped to review the teachings of the great Greek philosophers, encountering a very old one such as the Parable of the Triple Filter of Socrates , based on verification or examination through 3 filters: truth, goodness and utility.

To explain in more detail this technique, I tell you below the anecdote of this great Greek philosopher:
A disciple of Socrates came to him a very distressed day and told him that he had met a friend of his, who told him something about Socrates.
The philosopher very wisely interrupted him by saying:
-Wait a minute, before you tell me something, I want you to make sure that the information you were told passes the examination of the three filters.
The surprised disciple asked him:
-Examination of the three filters?
To which Socrates answered in the affirmative, claiming that this examination was a good idea to filter out three times the information he wanted to comment on.
Immediately, Socrates started with the first filter, the truth, for this he asked the following questions:
-Are you absolutely sure that what you're going to tell me is true?
To which his disciple replied:
-The information I hear from someone else, I do not have 100% security that it is true.
To which the philosopher replied:
-Well, that is, you're not sure it's true or not.
Then Socrates continued with the second filter, goodness:
-What you're going to tell me about my friend is good?
To which the disciple replied:
-No, quite the opposite.
To which Socrates concluded:
-I mean, what you're going to tell me is not true and it's not good.
Finally, it went on with the last filter, the utility:
For what Socrates asked him:
-Will telling me that information be useful to me, to you, to my friend or to someone else?
To which his disciple replied:
-The truth is that it is not.
Then when Socrates concluded:

According to Socrates these 3 filters: truth, kindness and usefulness should be applied in advance before issuing any opinion.

Final Reflections:

This socrates approach is really useful if we apply it at all levels and in all media, this would prevent the dissemination of unreliable information or simply disguised lies.

Likewise, it is very important to apply these filters in corporate communication, both inside and outside the organization, especially that information that is disseminated from the company on social networks, on the web and in other media.
It is important not to make mistakes such as the publication of information only for the purpose of demonstrating that they are present day after day or for covering daily quotas of publications without taking into account the quality of what is published.
All of the above, is also applicable in the case of blockchain, where creators of quality content, could find in this technique a perfect ally.

Excellent parable, very useful in these days where information flies and may or may not be true, we must stop to reason so as not to become distressed or sick with so many things we see on the net.

Hello @cryptoxicate
I agree with you, thank you for your visit and comment.
Regards.

This is actually true, a lot of people spread information without first confirming of the information is true or what they would even gain by spreading it.

Hi @valchiz
That's right, and without taking into account the consequences of this.
Thank you for your visit and comment.
Regards.

hi dear friend @janettyanez
unfortunately those fake news sell a lot, that's what people like it all started with the yellowing from the murders of jack the ripper and from then on what it has done is grow, do not think that the media have not tried sell positive news but people do not consume it, for them it is more profitable to talk about a possible war that is not going to happen, to talk about positive things, it is a fairly complex issue, so we must educate ourselves and not consume fake news but most of people do so I think it's a losing battle.
regards

Hi @ramsesuchiha
You're right, but I'll keep disclosing as much information as I can on the subject.
