Your question is very sensible and of great importance.
What I miss is what you exactly want / ask / expect from the reader.
I sincerely believe that what is expected of the reader is his support for publications. Greater number of readers means greater exposure, participation and quality comments. That would be the function of the readers.
If you only wonder that, I can assume that the topics related to the economy, the ROI to the delegators and other aspects are clear to you.
