RE: Augmented Reality - The World Future

in Project HOPE4 years ago

Excellent article on the subject. The building blocks in terms of technological advancements are already there and, as correctly predicted by Bajarin in 2017, they are included in many new mobile phones. To hit mainstream, AR needs to increase the adoption rate and have a lower integration friction: which in turn means being integrated in everyday gadgets that bring AR within reach with little to no effort, such as smart glasses. Google's prototypes were a step in the right direction. There will always be a degree of distrust (e.g. privacy concerns from the idea of being recorded) but, to be honest, privacy crusaders are missing that surveillance systems are already all around and have been there for decades. It's just a matter of getting acquainted with something new, that doesn't really take away any more privacy.
