Have you heard of the debate that companies that own platforms should not own the services on it. Maybe you do not understand, there have been people who stand to say that if iPhone produces a phone, they should not be in charge of the softwares in it, If Amazon is a platform to sell product, it should not sell its product.

So many big companies have been facing a lot of issues with being monopolistic and being anti-competitive. From Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Sprint, T Mobile and many more, they have paid a lot in fine.

So many of this companies are very profitable like Apple, Google and so on while a few are only interested and getting bigger and bigger. Amazon is one of these companies. Amazon makes a lot in revenue but it has a very low profit in total, this is because the company has been intereted in growing itself and not concerned about profiting currently.

Companies like Amazon is a large corporation with several subsidiaries to it. The company has a large stock valuation, it also has users data. These resources is what Amazon uses to compete with its' competitors selling its own product to its customers using their data and making other suppliers and distributor have stocks unsold.

Apple is also another company that makes competition very difficult as a result of its size, finance and market cap. It is no doubt that Apple is an enclosed product and at such, Apple sells its products to its over 1 billion customers and then provides services in apps through the Apple store but Apple do not allow its service providers to provide apps to its users as Apple itself make the same Application making it difficult for competition to win thereby creating uneven competition.

A lot of companies are anti- competitive and only want to grow but not everyone believes this. What do you think about big companies and how they operate as well as how they buy startups, it is a good thing or not?

Hello @ojerinde
These large companies simply block the growth of smaller ones.
This is a reality. Whether I agree or not? well, actually if I were one of the small businesses that wants to make its way I wouldn't be, but being the owner I would do my best to make my business grow, so, those are the two versions. I believe that we would have to be in the place of those others to see in which way we would be heading.

You have said it all, giant companies always try to put smaller companies down but a small company must also make the decision to strive.

These companies are great titans of industry but before them were others that gradually lost their power. I believe that small industries survive and evolve into titans when they are the ones that create an entire industry.

one example is fecebook, or google who created a whole industry out of nothing

You are right, some of these giant companies started from being small as well.

Market will always be like a battle ground. Big company will always be a threat, but yet I believe others who are willing to compete can compete too, only if they can provide the public with better options in prices and services and products. Nokia was once a threat to other products like Sagem, Trium, and co, but when Nokia failed to innovate quickly, Samsung, overtook it, paving way for others who thought of producing great quality the public would like at affordable prices than that of Samsung who liberated them.

You are right, innovation is also a very great way for small businesses to grow.
