And what does continuous improvement consist of? was created by Edwards Deming and is also known as PHVA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act), it is used by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in its management systems standards, being the most widely applied worldwide in the field of quality, environment, information security and health and safety standards among others, in the public and private sector.
It is also a methodological reference for work teams and for people who wish to achieve success in a planned and consistent way, overcoming and evolving with the changes of the environment in a proactive way.
There are several representations of continuous improvement, but the four basic processes or phases proposed by Deming are still maintained, which are interrelated and can be complemented with others that facilitate them, such as feedback. I explain them in summary below:

The PHVA is a simple cycle, but not simply because it is necessary to perform it repeatedly, hence its continuous denomination, as well as it requires teamwork, feedback, and control activities implicit in all its processes.
As Deming indicated "You cannot improve what you do not control; you cannot control what you do not measure; you cannot measure what you do not define", that is to say, it is necessary to carry out the complete cycle, to really apply the continuous improvement and to give an answer to the established requirements in an efficient way.

This tool is very efficient because it allows us to control and evaluate each of the phases, being able to make the necessary adjustments to optimize what was planned and achieve the goals.
