Determination And Continuity In Business

in Project HOPE3 years ago

When a farmer cultivates his crops, he usually gives them some time to grow and mature before he starts to harvest the fruits right? No wise farmer cultivates and expects to start with the harvesting the same day. Then why do some people in business expect instant and automatic returns when they start business? Anything that will last will require a growth period, then followed by a maturity period.

You will agree with me that the growth and maturity period of corn is not the same as that of a mango tree. Obviously, the mango tree will take much longer but when it finally starts to prouduce, it will outlast the corn. In the same way, most times, the size of your business determines the time of maturity. Someone that started a pepper-selling business along the road might start having turnover in little time but you will not expect the person that started a construction business to experience the same speed of turnover. Just keep your determination and your continuity at hand.

At the starting point of your business, it may seem as if you have put in so much without seeing an immediate return, but this does not mean the returns will not come. The only watchword here is determination. If the big businesses of today will share with you what they experienced at the infancy period of their business, you will know that it is always not easy.

When establishing a business, one thing you should brace up for is challenge. With this in mind, you will not quit at the sight of challenges. Once you have a workable plan and your dream in view, then you should make determination and consistency your closest ally. What kills most businesses at the period of infancy may not be some external force but lack of consistency.

One major cause of lack of consistency is the heightened expectation of large and immediate profit. I mean, one thing you should understand is that building a sustainable business is not a ponzi scheme or a get-rich-quick scheme. Profit in business does not answer to wishes but to the level of work you have inputted into it.

At a point, it may look like the efforts you have put in is almost futile but the fact is; the hours before the dawn of a day is usually the darkest part of the night. A farmer that quits nurturing his plants will lose his harvest. So for the sake of the efforts you have put in, you should not give it a quit - instead, you can change your approach, try a new format or establish a new plan.

Hi @samminator

Certainly, the payback period of the invested capital and the beginning of profit generation, once a business has started, is an aspect that must be taken into account by those who start a business.
Otherwise, it can lead to bad or unwise decisions.
Best regards

That's right and I agree with you on this. Everyone going into business should define their payback period.
Thanks for the nice comment

I like the image you chose. Starting with raw determination toward a refined vision. Like stressing the importance thought before action.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment. That's right, thoughts have to be proceeded by actions
